I pay $7.98/gal for orange juice (store brand organic, no pulp, with calcium at Whole Foods).

I pay about $4.00/gal for bottled water (Poland Spring, non-flavored).

I pay about $1.98/gal for Coca Cola Classic (actually, that's 4 litres, but it's close)

I pay about $1.89/gal for 93 octane "no name" gas.

Guess which 2 products are produced by government-subsidized industries using imported raw ingredients? Hint...one of the two contains refined sugar.

I usually run $1.96 near Detroit, but had 41 miles left, so I filled
up in Birmingham, MI. Yikes, was $2.06

PREDICTION- Detroit area will see $2.25/gallon this summer
Possible- $2.50.

PREDICTION 2- California will hit $3.00/gallon, peak

Speaking about Premium...

I paid $2.02/gallon yesterday for gas. Cost me almost $25 to fill up the MINI, that was an all time high.

>>I keep hearing this towing rationale from folks who tow something at most once a month (not PRO of course, just "others&quot. Maybe, just maybe, if gas does reach $3/gal. this vast armada of American towers will reconsider their urgent need to haul 5 tons of stuff around on a regular basis. Just a thought...

Freedom entails one to the pursuit of happines. whatever floats your boat is FINE, really fine with me. I lived in Europe for seven years, I towed my race car in Europe for seven years and the fuel was at least $4.50 a gallon. Difference? I towed with a single axle, canvas covered trailer w/ a gasoline 2.4 liter Vauxhall Frontera (Honda Passport here) while now I tow a 24 ft all aluminum covered trailer with an F-350 diesel. My choice, I will live with it........America, the greatest place in the world.......you choose, you pay...you do.....

Perhaps a four cylinder diesel one ton pick up truck that can haul 2000 lbs and tow 10,000.....

What, at $7.98 your organic pulp-free orange juice doesn't have you considering the benefits of fresh-squeezed "Reg-yoo-LAH" stuff?

And, as far as our little adventure in Iraq, here's the score I've been keeping---

Iraq: 600 (our dead)
Us: ZERO WMDs

$2.03 Denver, CO 91 octane
Personally, I don't mind the high gas prices. The higher the better. Voters generally don't like high gas prices during an election year!!!
Just in case lying to the American people, going after Saddam in the name of "terror" instead of Bin Laden (the real terrorist), completely destroying our foreign policy credibility, dessimating our economy, a bad record on the environment, thinking the state of the union speach is the perfect platform to spout out about the "evils" of gay marriage, steriod in baseball and generally sticking his nose where it doesn't belong (how ironic for a Republican - less government and all that B.S. they like to throw around) wasn't enough to boot that idiot Bush.........high gas prices from his Saudi buddies...... Bye bye Bush!

>>I remember reading a review of the North American spec Land Rover Defender 90 about 10 years ago which was written by a British author visiting America. He was so excited gasoline was so cheap here that we could afford to have a big V-8 when they only got 4 cylinder gas or turbodiesel engines because of their high cost of petrol in the UK.
>>
>>I remember he commented that gasoline here was "cheaper than orange juice"
>>
>>If we paid the actual cost to the environment rather than our government subsidized price, we'd be paying $5/gallon easily.

check this out...

http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/fuel/

That's a UK average of 372.3pence per gallon (UK gallon) which, with todays exchange rate, is approx. $6.77 per gallon!!

I think we've got pretty good here, no matter what part of the country you live!

>>Those SUV owners must be really hurtin'

No kidding, I'm almost dreading getting my old landcruiser back together. I don't think i'll be able to afford to drive it much at 12mpg. Hopefully gas prices will come down a bit before summer so i'll be able to drive it at least once a week.

Dear Marty R and Squiggly Doodle.....sorry....you don't get a free pass......
600 american dead
0 WMD
0 Scuds launched at Israel
0 Iraquis murdered by Saddam (used to be in the tens of thousands per year)
0 Terrorist Attacks on our homeland
0 countries invaded by Iraq
0 oil wells blown up by Iraq
0 Persian Gulfs polluted on purpose by Iraq
Many terrorists killed in Iraq and outside of it.

Get your hateful heads out of the sand......impeach.....impeach indeed....this is the best President this country has had since Reagan......
And OF COURSE we are in Iraq for Oil....didn't you know,? The Halliburton tanker fleet is lined up outside of Iraq's sole port loading stolen oil which they then bring back to the US and sell for hard cash to finance Bushes campaign as well as Bush's
orgies in the White House.......he has secreted millions, no billions of dollars in secret swiss bank accounts........

$2.199 at the Lawndale, CA Costco for 91 on 3/30, $2.029 for regular.

Still, way better than the last car I drove (a GMC Jimmy, at these prices, typically a $30+ fill up), or my parent's big car (Acura MDX, $30+ too, but with premium, so even higher), in fact, my mom recently has been carpooling to work with me, since we work at the same place.

and proximity to a refinery has no lowering effect on gas prices, the Chevron on the corner of a Chevron refinery not far from me (about 5 miles) is at least as high as anyplace else.

I dont even look at the price of the fillup anymore. I just fill and drive (with paying of course ) You can't put a price on motoring!

I hate it when these kind of post turn into political arguments.
One moment Bush has attacked Iraq for oil, the next moment he's gonna be defeated because of high gas prices. Tax cuts for he rich, even though everyone who pays federal taxes got a tax cut, I guess the objection is that those who pay more got a bigger cut....yeah, that can't be right, everyone knows the biggest tax cuts should go to those who pay little or no taxes. There's a Halliburton plot to suck oil out of the moon and Cheney used to be a part of Halliburton so it's just gotta big a bad, bad thing. Gore really won the election and don't dare try to cloud the issue with facts like EVERY vote count, (hanging chads, dangling chads, swinging door chads, etc.), showed Bush still winning.

About those jobs, who would of thought we would have lost jobs on Bush's watch? What possible difference could the bursting of the stock market bubble, 911, corporate scandals and a war against terror have had on the economy? What?... jobs are being created?....well, not fast enought and they are the wrong jobs and Kerry promised ten million jobs and we need someone who can relate to all the people not a millionaire like Bush and bla, bla, bla..........huh? Kerry owns how many homes?...... and a few islands off the east coast?...... and his wife who ocassionally uses his last name has about 600 million bucks? That's OK, he's a Democrat, he feels your pain.

A campaign based on nothing but hatred for Bush ain't gonna work.

If you agree with me or don't agree with me that's fine. I hope, (and I'm sure you do too), that this is my only political post on this website.

I really want to be able to come here and get away from the never ending politics which have started sooner and are more hate filled than any I remember in my 60 years.

I'll shut up now and I hope everyone else will also keep their politics to themselves unless they are on a political website.

Thanks and I apologize for this post...couldn't help myself.

R.E.
