BMW cars damaged in port accident

[EDIT: Not a port accident. Damage occurred due to rough seas.]

Many BMW cars, mostly M3s, were damaged on board the Courage during rough seas before arriving in the Jersey City port.

No mention of any MINIs being on board.

Oh damn...nothing like waiting for your car, and BAM, something happens and it slips through your fingertips.

Wow that is pretty crazy. Just think of the poor people waiting for their European delivery though, car already being financed and they have waited for it not just once but twice.. Lord knows how they deal with the lenders if financed, what a mess.

I have never heard anyone call a M3 a POS before.

Oh I've heard it called all sorts of things when the engines spun bearings and blew

I find it interesting that they went with such a sedate suit color for the launch dealer demo cars, although, as I've heard such things can reflect the state of the economy/politics.

Yowza....I certainly hope some of those are totalled and they don't try to fix them. I'd be pissed off if THAT much had to be fixed and it was considered a new car at delivery time....

that really is very sad. looks like some 1-series were on the boat, too. lucy2811 i hope your mini is ok. but at least you know, and you can find out if it was damaged at all and was repaired at vdc, etc. you have every right to not take delivery if things were done to it or if it bothers you

How does a ship tip in port? Unbalanced load? Just curious. Our last Mini came in on the Courage. Hope all you cars are OK.

[EDIT: Incorrect interpretation of report on my part: it didn't tip in port; it tipped at sea during rough seas.]

I didn't see any details as to what "tipping" means, but I assume it became unbalanced as they were unloading, causing the cars and/or containers to slide around. Jenga!

I'm confused....

MINIs ARE BMWs.

Now the drivers IN BMWs are definately different and in fact less of them on the road is a good thing.
