New 'Alternative' Vehicle: The Amphibious Car

This was in the news a few years ago, but it looks like the company is setting up shop to sell it in the US market.

A New 'Alternative' Vehicle: The Amphibious Car

Here's something the MINI could never do.
The Amphicar is well known, and the Germans had the Swimwagen (sp?). I think it's a neat car. I would post on the MSN forum, but I'm not signing up.

Even though Arizona has a high boat per capita ratio, I would never want one, but to each their own.

Cool! I could see wealthy vacationers (or residents) on Cape Cod buying one of these to get around the traffic bottlenecks at the two bridges leading onto the Cape. I wonder what sort of ocean waves it can handle?

(I must confess I'm not going to read the whole article. There's a flamefest going on in a real estate forum that I read, which is much more compelling lunchtime reading material. )

Great minds think alike! I merged Kurt's thread with sndwave's.

Well, with Global Warming on the horizon, we may eventually
all have amphibious cars.

How about this one?

Rinspeed Splash

Also check out Rinspeed's site at Rinnspeed They drove it across the channel!

A hydrofoil! That works for deep channels.
