True. But I own the hat. If YOU owned the hat, I would have had to chase you down like a fox does the bunny until it was MINE! ALL MINE!! BWAH-HA-HA!

Signed up in Group 4 for March 10 & 11 @ Thunderhill and March 21 at Laguna Seca.

Oooo! I just read your (uncensored) email above! Sounds like you want a piece of me.

The rules haven't changed. In order to wear the crown, the current holder must be chased, caught and passed. Can't pass me if I ain't there! Well, you'll have three chances in March. Maybe, if you're lucky, it'll rain again, since we all know i wimp out when the showers start.

"Supposedly I got 5 MINIs to sign up for this event. We'll see how many brave the rain".
http://www.motoringunderground.com/f...ead.php?t=5001

hmmm, no show on Saturday (rain) and only (2) credits not (5).
Seeya and myself were already signed up.

btw, everyone sooner or later spins, nothing to be ashamed about.
I swear this is true: NASA group 4. If you have a spin during the first session, you have to get up before the download class and explain what happened. All while wearing a pink tutu and twirling in a circle. Fitting for your hat, eh.

Can't wait. You know how much I like to perform!

Wet track in the morning today at Laguna. I took it "easy" but still led the pack for the session. Later on when it dried up, I had a lot of fun playing with some Loti and Spec Miatas. Looking forward to when next we meet.

Jerry,

John (Exige) told me that he had lots of fun chasing you at the NCRC LS event and he did consistently 1:47. Since he also mentioned that you were faster by about a second or so, this gives you the bragging right of that FMOD hat of yours...

Woo! 1:46 around Laguna is not too shabby. We really missed you. It would have been REALLY fun to draft a couple of MINIs by the Exige!

John SAID he had fun, but I think he's got HP envy and has his eyes on an Exige S. NOBODY likes being passed by a MINI.

John and his Exige took care of business on Friday. Somewhere between Tuesday and Friday he found 4 seconds, so he passed me and I couldn't catch him. He claims it was on the 8-9-10 sequence after he followed me through there and discovered he didn't need to brake at the entrance to 9. Day-um. I show all these young guys my tricks and they pay me back by passing me! Ingrates.

Next up for me is BMWCCA at Sears 3-4 March and then 10-11 with NASA at Thunderhill. I hope to see you fast guys there! I still have the hat. Gary Anderson had the only other MINI at Laguna on Friday and he couldn't catch me.

Followed Sad Arthur around (track shoes and all) at Mini of Concord while I was taking an R56 for a spin.

Looked like the tech was having fun with him!

Yeah, they're trying to find a power steering pump problem. It squeaks when turning right and moans when it turns left. If they don't find it, I'll just drive it until something falls off, and then they can fix it.

HOD? Scroom! Not surprised that spots are still open. Small run groups are fun too. Good luck with that.

Bad news for the bank account:
warped (really) brake rotors
torn front control arms
bulging shock towers

Maybe I'm driving this thing too hard. I hope BBM will have it fixed by 3 March BMW CCA at Sears.

If anyone can do it..BBM can!!
I "assume" that warranty is not going to cover it.

Nope. "wear and tear" they called it. Oh well. I've flogged this beastie unmercifully for 2 years without any problems. Sooner or later, I have to pay.

True Dat....
What kind of rotors you going to go with? JCW pads also?
Is it the front control arm bushings, if so, are you going to try the new Alta uinits?
What are they going to do about the shock towers?
See you soon.....I hope !

1. I've got Stoptechs on the front now, so I need another set of their slotted rotors and some hotter pads, Hawk Orange, this time.

2. yes. I don't know.

3. bang 'em flat and attach a front strut brace with beefed up plates. David at MOC recommended M7's plate, but I don't know about that.

Sorry, Randy. I've had to cancel my trip to AMVIV this year. I had a better offer I couldn't turn down.

I'll be ready for the BMWCCA event 3-4 March at Sears, the NASA event 10-11 March at Thunderhill, and then it goes back into the shop for some more work. I may be testing the BBM racecar with Jacques at the NASA event, if it's ready by then. WOOOOEEE! Strap in and hold on!

Cool...
I have the M7 STB also, seems to work, but then I don't "pound" mine around the track like you do!!
Sorry to hear you're not going to AMVIV, but I can understand "offers that can't be refused" only come around so often. I'll try 'n have a cigar 'n brandy in your honor.

What events are on everyones upcoming schedules. I'm trying to plan my first track day, but need to work it around my Go Kart race days and the never ending honeydo list. Which track and organization would be best for a first outing? I've taken the ARC at Infinion and have had lapping days in the Russell cars but I've not been on track with my Mini. I definitly want to be with an instuctor. I live in the foothills outside of Marysville so all the NorCal tracks are accessible. I have an 03 mcs with 15@ pulley, F1 D3 tires on stock wheels. No other Mods. Thank for any advice.

...upcoming schedules

minispeedrcr,

You just missed this one:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=86014
It was MINI Day at Thunderhill. Hear say it was quite a big turn out.

I do most of my track/driving events with NASA.
Here's NASA's link:
http://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/list_events

There are allot to chose from. They are all great organizations and have very good instructors.
I'm sure you can find one of their schedules and prices to meet your needs.

The best coach i know in this area is Siddhartha (Jerry). He has a lot of time in MInis and goes to alot of different tracks. He could advise you on what track and what group would be the best to start with. His car is down for repairs, but i think it will be ready soon. Leave him a post on this thread and he should answer. Hope this helps.

Thanks, for the compliment, Randy, but it looks like kmickey (a talented and devoted track day junkie, BTW) has it covered above.
