Calling all fast Bay Area MINIs!
If it stays dry, you'll just need a run thru a touchless car wash. If it rains and gets the field muddy....well, a high pressure washer might be needed.

Also, it looks like they expanded the rallycross area now so runs are almost averaging near 2 minutes per run.

Now there's an idea!

Double post for the coverage
I'm signed up for Hooked on Minis on 1 November at Thunderhill in Group D. That means the FMOD hat will be on the line and may have a new owner by day's end. In case anyone is worried about cooties (since I've had it for so long) I bought a brand new one and will be most happy to present it to the Mini driver who can catch me and pass me in Group D.
NOTE: The passing rules in Group D may affect this, so just catching me or running away from me may be be good enough. FMOD rules subject to change on Track Day.
Suffice to say if you're faster, we'll know it. It would be great to have three judges not in Group D. Any volunteers?
It's not much, just about bragging rights, and I'm sure you all are tired of hearing me brag about how fast I am. So here's your chance. There's always someone younger/prettier/faster - I just haven't met them yet.

FASTEST MINI OF THE DAY
Another double post:
Oh well. HOD has changed their mind. I won't be allowed to attend after all. I guess I'm the only one who's interested in who is the fastest . . .
"Jerry - your post - presenting an aggressive speed challenge that is the equivalent of a "Pinks" show at HOD, has forced me to re-consider your attendance. You will not be allowed to participate in the event. Your promise to behave didn't last very long...david p.s. I repeat my suggestion for you to go to racing school - that's the only place that is appropriate for your red mist - and you'll have to control it even at a race or they won't want to share the track with you..."
According to the post on the MiniMania site: "a key philosophy that HOD drivers are guided by is "It's not how fast we drive, it's how well we drive…"
So I guess if you're fast, that must mean you don't drive well. I REALLY don't belong on the track with them.

Nah, it's not worth it. The event is fun for too many people.
Just not for me.
David gets on his high horse with me, conveniently forgetting that I've been to racing school and that I've been running NASA Time Trials all season. He just likes to lecture me from high atop his pedestal of self-righteousness. Fine. It's his event. I'm sorry I won't be allowed to come play with you all.
And by the way, the term "red mist" is used to describe uncontrolled aggression on the track; hardly appropriate for the wee bit of sport I suggested. Over reaction. Typical.
It's fun to have fast Minis to play with. Every event I attended this year the hat was on the line and I'm still wearing it.

I agree, boycotting is the wrong choice. Its not everyday that MINI's have a place to all get together and have fun on the track... Sidd and HOD have issues, thats really between them and not the rest of us...its HOD's event, their rules...
Lets get lots of MINI's out to the HOD event and have a great day, get some people totally into trackdays and then lets all go do a NASA event too.....

Be good little boys and girls and do what Uncle Davy says and all will be well with you. Just don't drive fast. If you want to drive fast, I'd suggest another venue. There are many.

Yeah, whatevah. In case you missed it on the way in, this thread is for all FAST (not you) BAY AREA (also not you - last time I looked, Bend was in Oregon) Minis - well, you do have a Mini, I'll give you that.
The bickering is getting real old for all of us. You've been banned from this event, life goes on and you can race over a silly hat at some future event.

Next up for me is the NorCal/SoCal Shootout at Buttonwillow on Friday, September 14th. Since I can't find anybody who can catch me up here, I'll try SoCal. Prolly get byotchslapped, but hey, part of the fun (at least for me) is just getting out on the track with other fast Minis and duking it out to see who's fastest.
After that I'll be at the NASA event at Infineon 22-23 Sep, but I'll be taking the Instructor Clinic, and so won't be on the track to play. I'll be around to say hi at least if anyone wants to come out.

Oh I don't think so. Thanks for your concern, but real racers are made of sterner stuff. No one has seen those gumdrop posers at the track anyway, so what does it matter what they say?
If they were serious, they'd bring it, wouldn't they? The whole point of this thread (for those who arrived late) is the challenge, as the first post makes abundently clear.

whose got a Laguna date before the first of the year? ScottinBend, you coming down to CA for any events? Im thinking of rocking the Audi sportscar thing thats getting setup at Infieon before the end of the year. RS4/R8 on track with some factory sponsored driver...works for me. No more Russell action unless you got $65K and are a 12 year old Spanish go-karting champion...

Kick some a$$ out there.
