2007 N.A.S.A. Rulebook
Chapter III, Subparagraph 4, Section IV:
All MINI gearshift ***** shall be properly sheathed in organic 4X sheep intestine to prevent the spread of RAPTURE.

OooooEeee! More and more exciting. Now if only we could get Clive heated up about this event, we'd have a real run-off. I feel that FMOD hat slip slidin' away.

Just a teaser for those fence sitters. Not only do you get to wear THIS,

you also get bragging rights as Fastest MINI of the Day AND, you won't have to listen to me pontificating (to speak or express opinions in a pompous or dogmatic way) anymore! What's not to like? C'mon down, it's shaping up to be a real showdown. The BS stops when the rubber hits the road.

never run with NASA before... i heard that group 4 is as close to racing as you get in HPDE... any truth to this?

Tone down the hype - we're not racers. We're gonna have fun!
I still maintain that little tiara mounted on the back of your car (you call a wing) is mounted upside down.

And as a NASA usual: Free BBQ after that days events.

Last year, NASA HPDE group 3 program went like this:

The HPDE 3 program is four 20-minute sessions per day (like all other HPDE groups), however it's now a two-day training program.
Saturday will still be the same, whereas you slowly work up to passing everywhere by the end of the day.
Sunday will be a continuation, starting with passing everywhere in the first session and then picking up the pace in the subsequent sessions.
This should better prepare drivers for Group 4.
HPDE 3 is only available on Saturday or both days.
Sunday only entries will not be accepted.

Don't get your car tech'd at the event. Do it before.
Fill out the form yourself and have a shop sign off on it.

Oh yeah?? For your information, smart guy, THIS is a tiara:

THIS, on the other hand, is a John Cooper Works factory wing, developed in the wind tunnel at Oxford as a streetable version of the famous John Cooper Works Challenge Car wing.

Not only does it LOOK great, it develops 4,248 lbs of downforce, which you will notice as we pass you on the inside of the Carrousel. The vortices it develops at speed are so strong that the fallen leaves dance as we pass.

(j/k)

Oh, he who dances with leaves.....

4,248 lbs of downforce? That's because it weighs 4,248 lbs!

So what's the difference? JCW wing, Tiara, leaf blower...

Any ideas on the "3 work up to 4" thing? Is group 3 going to be a mery go round? Not that Im complaning, Im not going to be going 100%, but last outing with trackmasters, I had to literally pass 22 cars in 1 session (I was in group 2 then though)

ketmeho,
"Any ideas on the "3 work up to 4" thing? Is group 3 going to be a mery go round?"

Last year (in the fall), NASA turns HPDE group 3 into a two day training program. I really like it.
Not really sure if this will be this same or some minor changes to the program this year.

Saturday's Sessions (4) 20 minute each.
Session 1:
Cars pair off side by side.
Complete one lap and drivers switch from outside to inside position.
Complete another lap and switch back and so fourth.

Session 2:
Cars single file, but run on purpose "off line".
Real hard to do especially when you have trained to "drive the line".

Session 3:
Now that you have experienced what is like to drive on the track in areas you have never experienced before
and running side by side, you can now pass (or get passed) in braking zones.

Session 4:
Its full open track now.

Sunday's group 3 session. (4) 20 minute sessions
Session 1 thru 4:
Open track.

All of this is done with specific instructions in the driver's meeting/download.
The group leader is a seasoned racer (Formula Atlantic), Skip Barber instructor and coaches professional drivers.

Oh, "point by's" are not required but are a nice courtesy.

Group 4 requires a signoff in your log book and is a open track format.
Pass or get passed, everywhere and anywhere -

The NASA HPDE logbook is given to you when you first join - just ask the group leader for one.

The logbook is only necessary if your planning to go up through the HPDE ranks and or to a NASA provisional race license.
It is not for your car.
