Calling all fast Bay Area MINIs!

Did you have have any issues with fitting or use spacers or any modifications besides shaving the tires to make these fit the car without rubbing?
Lots of fitment problems and about a month of body nipping, hammering, track running, cutting tires, more body nipping, hammering, tracking etc. And still, if I fly it, I'll cut the top of the sidewall on landing. I need spacers to clear my Stoptech brakes.
It will really help if you go to someone who has done it before and hopefully get it done just once. Good luck with that.
Shaving the tires does not help fitment - it cuts down on tire squirm as you break in the tire and lets you go somewhat fast when the tires are new. The RA 1s get stickier as the tread wears.
Caveat: this is a full on track setup, very inappropriate for the street. If you spend most of your time on the street, you'll be very unhappy with this combo, even though it looks sick.

Thanks for that RCR. We did some other stuff. I'll have to show you.
I still have those 17X7 orange Koseis. If you want 'em, I'll make you a good deal!
See you soon, I hope.

Memo to self: ignore tazio.
*clap clap* nice response.
I think most of us would like your version of what happened that day though.
What happened to the new and improved Sid?
why don't you stalk jerry's posts on 2 forums at the same time... oh wait you are. that's pretty cool! lol bench racer noobs.

you're the one that stalks jerry's threads all over each mini forum and posts the same condescending trash in each of them. as if you've really got any decent track experience with your car. Just go out and "motor" and leave the track experience to the people that actually do it.
Nice edit.........
Where in any of this do I doubt his expertise at driving or prepping his car?
I, like a lot of others, find his past online demeanor rather abrasive and confrontational. I was rather impressed when he stated in an earlier post....."As for all the posturing, bravado and trash talking - that's in the past. I'll just let my performance on track speak for me in the future."
Then when he made the reply to taz in his rather old trashy way I was dissappointed.
I am glad to seee Jerry back, but I was hoping he was serious about his atitude adjustment.

I thought about jumping ship, as you recall, but when it came right down to it, I have some kind of emotional attachment to this hunk of metal, glass and rubber. I'd like to see some times from the Challenge cars on Laguna, Sears or T-Hill so I'd know where I stand in relation to that equipment.
What does "done with em" mean? Are you getting rid of it? Bad experience?

I will be interested to see how the Challenge goes...I hope it does well, it would be nice to see a real series for the car.
Im not 100% sure what I mean, but my hearts just not in it. Its because my cars not dedicated to the track. Everytime I run events now, Im opting for (and paying for) purpose built stuff (Radicals, Panoz, Mazda GT) and racing is just damn expensive, plus I have no storage/tow solution for any platform...and Im at the point where I want to be in the hunt for real points.... Im in a funk and the MINI's not helping pull me through...

Oh Matt! Hahaha!
Anyway, I haven't done the numbers yet because I don't have a gross vehicle weight, but it's likely I will have booted myself up to TTC with the internal stripping. That would leave TTD ripe for picking while I duke it out with the race prepped Beemers in TTC.
Something to think about.
