Short Shifter install $$$

How much did it cost to install the short shifter in your MINIs and what's the name of the shop???

I purchased the COLT/MossMini brand online and was quoted $185 for installation in a San Jose clutch shop. Does this price sound decent?

Wow! $100, great deal Kyriian. Anyone with a similar deal in the bay area??? Help! I'm really itchin to get Pooky's short shifter installed but the few shops here are asking for a lot. My 92 Honda Civic's was simple to install and it cost me $75.

It's all good...I'm sure someone on this forum got a great deal locally.

I can't see the rims on the MINI pic, I'm sure their gorgeous. When I get a chance to take pics of Pooky's new rims...I'll post em'.

Both Edge Motorworks in Pleasanton/Dublin and Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland have done a lot of work on local Minis. Give them a try.

Pooky, never having done one before, I installed my short shifter myself in about 3 hours. A set of ramps made it easier.

I wish I was that bold to get underneath Pooky to do this project. I installed the K&N cold air intake myself and that was okay.

It really isn't a hard install, and doesn't even take a lot of tools. Just leave yourself plenty of time.

Depends on the the type of short shifter. If you are replacing the whole lever it takes alot longer than adding an extension. With a lift and air tools it would probably take an experenced tech 60-90 minutes to install the extension. Call it 2-3 hours for the lever.

I replaced the whole thing, removing the shifter box and all. Like I said, I was done in about 3 hours in my garage using a set of ramps and a regular socket set.

I remember taking out the instruction manual for this installation and laughed so hard...folded up the instructions and exhaled slowly. I don't think I was too thrilled with the project. But the air intake install was more to my liking.

Being underneath the car is what freaks me out. I was hoping that it would be an "interior" type of install. ;(

I will have this project taken up by the folks at Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland...when I get a day off of work since they're not open on weekends.:(
