Snow on Mt. Hamilton

Hmm, I am looking out my office window at the snow on Mt. Hamilton and wondering if the road will be open tomorrow. Looks like the weather forecast is for more snow tonight and rain on Sunday, but tomorrow might be just partly cloudy. It might be fun to drive up there and check it out if the road is open and traffic is light.

I'm in the west hills... I've been getting hail on and off all day. No snow, but I'm at only 1400 feet....

I've been getting hail a few times in San Francisco too! Last storm of it was pretty big chunks, I'm so glad the cars are indoors

Was funny to see the pics of snow on Mt. Tam a week or so ago. You should go take some pics of your Minis in the snow

We got snow in the Santa Cruz Mountains as well. Mostly in Bonny Doon. I'm freezing here in Aptos. Got a big fire going right now. I'll soon be nice and toasty .

Tried to go to Mt. Hamilton last time snow was there, but road was closed at Grant park. Maybe I'll try to get up there tomorrow afternoon.

I heard on the news that the road was closed and they were turning people away. You may want to try for an early run. Good luck. It should be an awesome site from the top!

According to the Micro Station on Mt. Rose the weather is clear and calm up on Mt. Hamilton. I think I will head up and check it out. Planning to be at the top by 11 and have lunch at the Junction if the road is open.

Scratch that idea. The road is closed according to Caltrans. Think I will head out from Livermore.

Well it was a nice day out on Mines road. A few Cruisers and BMW motorcycles showed up at the Junction. A park ranger had the road blocked at the intersection. He told me that the road was clear but they couldn't deal with the influx of tourists wanting to play in the snow so they put up the road closed signs. Unfortunately their "fairness" rule requires them to close it from both sides. Some of the motorcyclists told me that they had encountered the Park Ranger further down the road and he told them to turn back after checking their papers. The fine is high if he decides to issue a cite for passing a road closed sign. It is open to locals but I decided to just hang out at the store instead of trying my luck.

Since people actually wanted to go to the location,, they closed it!

Remindes me of the scene from catch-22.

Highway 9 and 35

Tonight at 8:30pm I came over the summit at highway 9 and 35 and it was snowing like mad! I must say that it was an adventure with my "ultra high performance summer only" tires

I'm at 1400' at 35 and 84

And it's been snowing all morning. Some accumulation on my decks, but none on the roads. But I'm pretty low!
