Pulley Install Near Pleasanton/Dublin

Hi, all. I searched this forum and found a lot of agreement on Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland, but does anyone recommend anything closer to Dublin/Pleasanton? I want to do a 15%/CAI/cold plugs ASAP.

(I have seen the DIY instructions online, but I'm a little hesitant to jack up the motor, and I don't have the pulley tool for that matter.)

Thanks!

try Edge Motorworks in Dublin. They seem to be doing a lot lately for mini's- Erik (one of the founders) even posts on NAM. I got my Milltek from them and they seem like a pretty cool/knowledgeable bunch of guys.

Thanks, Wooper. I am aware of them. I reckon I'll give 'em a call. I actually left a message with Bay Bridge, but they haven't called me back yet. Go figure!

Another question:

Does it really matter which 15% pulley I get? Are the all created equal? How about the CAI? If I go with Edge, should I insist on, say, Alta gear? Thank again!

Johnny L - I believer Randy Webb (Webb Motor Sports) will be in the bay area next month for a Pulley Party - if you want to wait you can sign up on his web site ...

Thanks, all, for your input. I have an appointment at Edge Motor Works in Dublin for Monday the 13th. I'm having the Alta CAI and a Eurosport 15% pulley installed.

I actually could have waited for the next Randy Webb Pulley Party, but the due date for our first child is August 2nd, so I'll be ON-CALL that weekend

Okay, so tell me. Just how loud is the Alta CAI? . . .

Also, should I insist on a different belt?

Cheers, all. I'll let you know how it goes.

Wow, congrats on the upcoming family 'mod'

So you are buying the pulley from them? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know what they are charging you for parts/install. Thanks and let us know how it goes

You will simply never know how you ever lived without the sound and performance of the CAI and 15% pulley!

Loud? It's all relative...
Compared to a stock intake it's like a hoover - sucking in the air
Compared to a 2-year old in a full blown temper tantrum - it's whisper quiet

Congratulations on the addition(s)!

I would recommend getting an aftermarket exhaust system also - with extra air you're pulling in you should make it easier to exhaust.

Hey, East Bayers! Well, I just picked up "Black Jack" after his visit to the speed Dr. at Edge Motor Works.

While today probably isn't the best day (94 degrees! + A/C on) to evaluate the changes fully, I can say that I'm pleased. It's not a night-day difference, but it's worth the money. Also, it's not that much noisier at all; it's kinda like turning up the volume a notch or two. Sounds about like the original, just a little bit more of it. Nice.

It'll be interesting to see what the drive to work will be like tomorrow morning when it's about 60 degrees w/ no A/C running. I'll probably notice more oomph then.

Well, thanks again, all, for your encouragement and suggestions!

JonnyL,

What did the Pulley + Install cost at Edge? Thinking about it myself.
