Are any of us....

Members of the CHP 11-99 Foundation? Its an organization that uses its money to help families of CHP officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. For all interested, it is an $1800 donation for a lifetime membership....

Of course, this foundation does have its perks. Not only do you help out a good cause, but supposedly officers will be much more leniant with you. I have read stories of officers about to pull a car over but simply veer off once they see the 11-99 plate frame.

That link did not work for me when I tried it, but this one did: http://www.chp1199.org/

Was at Laguna Seca right after Christmas with the Cobra, Shelby America Clubs and saw a few of those plate frames. Now I know why. Sounds like it might be a good way to "Get In Good Graces".

Hope this helps...

It was $1500 back in 2000. All (almost all) of the CA cars I saw at Concorso Italiano are "members"... then again, wouldn't you if you can afford a Lamborghini or Ferrari?

And the $1800 is tax deductible.

That is bizarre! What a nuisance. It has become common for people to steal the DMV annual renewal sticker, but someone who steals such a license plate frame would have to be really well informed. An informed license plate frame thief?

This is a prime example of why I won't ever donate to the police. If you know them or are associated with them then its ok to break the law, if not, then its off to the pokie for you. This is nothing more then a legal way to bribe you for money. If they were so concerned about their family then they should have bought life insurance like the rest of us.
Have you ever seen a fund for the families of the average blue collar working man? Nope, nobody cares when they get killed at work.
