Anything to do in Petaluma, CA area?
I am heading up to the Petaluma / Marin County area from Orange County in a few Minutes. We're visiting the in-laws until Monday evening. Is there any MINI-related stuff to do up there this weekend?
Yes, head out of town to Bodega bay. Its a nice drive. you can take Hwy 1 south to Pt. Reyes, head back East throught Samuel P. Taylor St. park. Then catch the Nicasio turn off North and follow the signs back into Petaluma.
Or... Hwy 12 is a nice inland road, but busy on the week-ends. There are also a lot of nice places to stop for wine tasting along the way.
Just explore, and stop where it looks interesting. There are a lot of neat things in that area.
Enjoy

I'll second this route. Highway 1 from Petaluma to Pt Reyes is a beautiful drive with great scenery of Tomales Bay and lots of twisties but easy driving for the MINI. The Hwy 1 north to Bodega is also nice. You can't go wrong.
The classic Mini dealer is located here in Santa Rosa: www.minimotors.com (talk to Harvey) on Piner and Airway drive, cross street. But much of the time, the shop is closed and no one answers.

Mount Tam used to be good to ride the ole motorcycle down Sunday mornings. 84 is on this side of the bay...probably 50 miles from the chicken town of Petuluma. It's not all that close to Tracy either. Jcampos, do you guys meet in the middle on Woodside road and go to Alices?

The Coast, Down HWY 1, and to Stinston Beach is a great drive. That's one of my favorites in my little car. Please do not do Hwy 12 on a weekend. You will constantly be stopping and going in traffic. You can head North on 101 to Healdsburg, take Dry Creek road through wineries and up to Lake Sonoma. Then, take a left at the lake and take the curviest road you will be on in your whole life. It takes you all the way to the ocean. One of the coolest routes you'll find up here.

Alwys thought about driving along Skaggs Springs road out to Stewarts point. Haven't had the courage. My, miniwifey, you are bold!
Holy pants of Jiminy Cricket! Did Minimotors close up shop and relocate? For the past two years Harvey used to host a Drive/BBQ at his garage and you should have seen the classic Mini response. Santa Rosa's loss.
I saw mini motors car at Infineon raceway about three weeks ago. I don't think they are out of business.
This is their address pulled from their website.

I really think you all hit the good ones. One good day trip would be to leave P-town early and drive south on 101, take the Stinson Beach/hwy 1 exit and follow it to stinson beach. It should be a fantastic beach weekend. chill there for a while have a snack or somethting then head north on hwy one until you get tired of it. Once you hit Jenner things get really crazy......you can always drive up to Guallala for the day and return via Cazadero....good fun road. The lake sonoma to the coast rought is wild. And anything going out of Occidental. You could have breakfast at Howards in Occidental and then head to the coast from there.
I am so sorry I got a little out of controll there. I grew up in P-town so I could go on and on.
You should try Old Chicago Pizza. It is not like the chain. Deap dish, delicious. If you like pizza.

Howard's Station is indeed a great place for breakfast. But then, "calorie canyon' has a lot of other fine eats.
Glad to hear that Minimotors is still in Santa Rosa.
