Central Coast MINI Club

So I was poking around and found this site:

http://www.centralcoastmini.com/

It looks like it hasn't been functional in a while. Does anyone here know who owns the site or the rights to the club? There are probably enough MINI owners in the Santa Cruz to San Luis Obispo coastal areas to support a club.

If anyone has any information, drop me a PM or email. Thx.

I came across that same site about 6 months ago. I wonder what happened. Almost like a ghost town Mini club. Seems like they just disappeared.

See this as well. There were no other posts by this member either. Weird.

That particular club really never existed. The photo on the web page is of REME members in San Juan Bautista at the California Classic Car Show in October 2005. The site has been up for a few years but was never even finished.

REME has a handful of Central Coast members from Half Moon Bay to Pebble Beach. We have local chapters wherever the concentration warrants it. We have a Monterey area coast run planned on 10/25-26/08 if you are interested in joining the fun.

Jr, if you go to any server-web site provider and plug in the domain name (like you were trying to register it), it will give you the registered owner's name and contact info. This is from public records showing the site owner.

Good call. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the replies.

I would be interested in (and would likely participate more often in) a Central Coast based club. We're in Santa Cruz and would love to do more group motoring ... otherwise we can be found zipping around all our lovely local twisties!

Thanks Marco.

I'm hearing that more frequently these days, which is what has me thinking this direction. I can't do it by myself, but if the interest is there, I'd love to get some folks together and start a club.

Try here:

I think we are closer to you. Mavericks do a lot of runs in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We get together about once a month either on a run or just hang out. Check us out! I'm in Aptos so this works out great for me!

Well, took some time, did some research. I think I'll be joining Maverick MINI's as the time and monetary investment necessary to start a new club is pretty steep. Insurance alone is a small fortune.

That in combination that I've taken on more work than I can possibly get done and the hours are too long these days to be able to take on club organization.

If someone else is interested in heading up a new club, I would certainly jump in and help out, but right now isn't the right time for me to biting it off myself.

I hope those that chimed in with their support understand.

I am driving with them today - April 19

I am visiting my Dad in Morro Bay and ... TODAY we are going on a "Central Coast MIN" run !

This will be my first time meeting them and I will ask what they are up to as a club and let them know they have friends looking for them.

Please do! Enjoy the run.

We're headed to the central valley today by way of Hwy 198 between 101 and Coalinga in our own single car MINI run (going over to a friend's wedding).

198 is a great road for the MINI. Relatively smooth, fast and flowly punctuated by slowish corners.

198 is a nice ride. 25, Coalinga Rd, 198 is a good loop I've done dozens of times on my motorcycle. Enjoy all those wildflowers through there!

I miss that area. I use to live in San Luis Obispo. Loved Morro Bay and Los Osos.

The run was a good time..

About 12 cars,
VERY nice group
They are more "casual" about the club and runs.

They use an email system to announce runs.

I will send a email and ask how others can get on the list

I am moving back to pacific grove at the end of this month, we will have to get something going club wise. Here in SC we have a pretty good club setup and we always hit the autoX's and hpde's. Cant wait to get back to laguna. last time I was there I was driving a mustang.

about time I get to drive it with something that can turn!

Sent an email to the folks at Maverick MINI's....never heard back.

Just sent you a PM too. I'm down with helping out, but unfortunately I don't have the bandwidth to spearhead a project like this right now.

Lotsa MINI's in the Monterey area though. It would be cool to have a club.

You might consider becoming the central district for Norcal MINIs. Norcal has a lot of members in the Salinas, Gilroy, Monterey area. See www.norcalminis.com

JR,
Are you planning on joining us at MMMT in September. There will be central coast participants you can talk to about the possibilities of forming a club vs. creating a chapter of an existing club as we discussed a few months ago.

The only major hurdle to overcome when forming your own club is the number of hours required to get it off the ground... don't let anyone fool you, it is definitely a second full time job for at least one.

Yes, Zied. That's why I haven't done it. As I mentioned in the post above, I don't have the time.

JR,

In the meantime REME has our Monterey Run scheduled for Oct 25-26 weekend. You are welcome to join us for that. Here is a link to the route:
http://www.redwoodempiremini.com/PDF...2010-25-08.pdf

Also every year I campout at Laguna Seca for the American LeMans race. This year it's scheduled for Oct 16-18. We will be camping on the hill outside turn 6. Stop by for a cold brew, some horse shoes, and a big screen TV!
