Laguna Seca Convoy ???
Some responces...
DR DAVE
Thanks for the invite!!! I'll be there between 6:15-6:30 AM. I drive a 06 BRG JCW with chequered mirror-caps and roof. Looking forward to the ride
ROSSII
I have tickets for Sunday, but I'm not sure I can make it
Guess I'll see ya Saturday. But if you can make it Sunday as well then I'll be happy to convoy with you guys. I think SPEEDNUT is going down Sunday as well.
SPEEDNUT
I've missed that chatting too
Dawn would be coming down with me, but she's out of town for the weekend
All the plans were made before we met each other, to bad too, as she seems to like "motoring" quite bit. I'll prolly be going down on Sunday as well: maybe we can hook up with other San Jose-ans for the Sunday drive.
ALL
see ya on Saturday!

Is no one driving from the SF side? I thought Hwy 1 all the way would be a great drive, and quicker than going all the way to sj and then getting the 17 . I love taking the long way in my mini but I thought the scenery would be cool too. but Im also new so ??
We are not taking 17.
The route follows this path:
Start at Bernal. Left on Santa Theresa. Right on Baily. Left on McKean Rd. that turns into Uvas Rd. Keep going past the Reservoir. Right on Watsonville Rd. Follow to 152 (Hecker Pass Hiway) and turn right (west). Go over Mt Madonna and into Salinas, where we eventually get to Laguna Seca through the conventional route. A brisk fun run. You guys will like it. Takes about 1.5 hours. We will be there by 8 assuming no breakdowns.

Okay I guess I'll be the lone Mini! (so far anyway) That is reallly loong way around for me. It would take me an hour just to get to bernal rd. :( I would have loved to ride along, but I'll still get to meet you all there!
Ciao
Just a reminder that the Classic Mini race is on Sunday, the cars do not have any track time on Saturday but will be on display in the pits. Please stop by and visit with us. Come watch the Mini's mix it up with Cobra's, Shelby Mustangs and Tigers, oh my!!

The San Jose group is leaving San Jose at 6:30am on Saturday. We have to leave by then in order to beat the crowds (20-30,000 people) and get descent parking at the corral. There will be ALOT of people there. Keep in mind, there will be tons of other Marques of car corrals as well. (Mustang, Pantera, Datsun....)
With that being the case, if you East Bay guys are going to join us, You'll have to leave really early (like 5:30am).
FYI when you get on to Bernal (heading towards Santa Theresa), there is a Shell gas station, and behind it is a big mall structure. At the center is a Starbucks, and we will be in the parking lot in front.

Some highlights from springtime when the hills were green. (Slow shutter speed used for motion blur, all posted speed limits were observed)

Thanks again Dr. Dave!

I mapped it for them, and it's only 20 minutes normally, however, at 6am on a Saturday, it's more like 15. At that time, from 25 and 101 it's probably 25 minutes or less. I know I'm doing alot of arm twisting here, but it'd be great to have you along. Otherwise we should be in downtown Salinas by 7:30, assuming no one breaks down (this does occasionally happen).
Katmeho:
Actually we are hoping for the usual 5+ classics from Oakland to show up. We will wait for you.
NOTE: the MOASF club cell phone # for the day will be (408) 209-3592. So call if you are running behind or lost.

Hi there!
For the folks meeting at East Bay MINI. I know I'm suppose to meet you guys at 6:30, I apologize, I won't make it, I realized that I need to leave a little earlier, 6am sharp. Have to pick up my ticket at the will call (Embassy Suites in Salinas) not unless you guys want to leave at 6am. I'm meeting another member in Morgan Hill, Cochrane Exit (along 101) by McDonalds at 6:30. Please reply if you guys still want to meet at East Bay MINI at 6am. Otherwise, see you all at the Corral. Thanks.

Where were you guys?
I took the route north to McKean / Bailey but didn't see anyone.
By that time it was 7:00 so I turned around and drove real slow - thinking that if you left late that you would catch up....
Did I miss you entirely?
What a great day (except for the parade lap at 12:30). I'm burnt but smiling.

The parade lap was a major mistake.
We were sitting in the car ready to go then I looked up the hillside and saw the gaps and the speeding. It was on everything that we signed and read, PARADE LAP. Some people decided that they were on the track and to heck with everyone else. It would have been nice to see all of the cars on the track two abreast cruising as planned. It would have been a great photo op for the company and for us. Instead there they were with the "I got mine, screw everybody else" attitude. I agree with track officials stopping it. It's all about liability. If you don't follow the rules you spoil it for everyone. Next time you get the privilege to go first in anything follow the rules or chances are another opportunity will not arrive. There were a lot of very angry disappointed Mini owners there. It would have been beautiful instead it was just fun for about 1/3 of the cars there. Sorry to nag but I had to vent this & get it off my mind.
