Moving to San Jose area

Hi,
I have just been offered a new position in San Jose at Santana Row.
I am not too familiar with this area and am looking for a place to live.
I am single so I dont need a big place but it MUST have a garage. I am looking for somthing within a 15 mile radius.
If anyone in that area knows of something please send me a PM.
Thanks,
Steve

Check out Craig's list, south bay edition. <http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/>
It may be painful $$$-wise if you're coming from the Fresno area.

...it's pretty expensive right around Santana Row.

A 15mi radius is pretty big. That could be quite the ugly commute if you have typical commuter driving times.

My in-laws live about two miles from Santana Row. If I hear of anything or see anything while I'm there, I'll let you know.

Be prepared for serious sticker shock on housing. I suggest you look in the Campbell area. It's a real nice place and close to Santana Row- maybe 3or4 miles.

PS: Once at Santana Row don't miss the Sat morning exotics meet

Still looking for a place to move too.
Can you say sticker shock
No more nods for a while

When I actually get moved I will award a prize to the first person who can identify where I will be working (this does not include those that I have told this info too)

look in the Campbell area, places are always for sale/rent in my neighborhood on the san jose/campbell border and its a very decent neighborhood.

Yes that is my profession

I am looking for any number of bedrooms with a garage.
Currently I have 3 bdr /+ office/ 3 car garage and am willing to put 1 car and stuff in storage, but the MINI and tools must have their garage.

Wecome to the area...

But before you lock into your radius, think about the hill area as well. With a Mini, the drive is a dream, and there are quirky places to rent if you keep your eyes peeled. If you really like driving, you can even go over the hills, but the drive will be long.

I worked near 237 and north first street, and live above woodside. While it was a 32 mile drive each way, the 4+ right near my home would take the outer edges off the tread (Before camber plates) in about 10k+ miles, but the stress reduction was fantastic!

280 flows well a bit north of 85, but slows down during normal commute times south of there. If your commutes aren't at the normal times, you may want to widen your search radius.

Matt

I was wondering if that was the place too I've only been to Santana once and that was one of the nicer places I spotted, but then again I didn't traipse around much beyond the car meet in the parking lot.

Good luck MiniChef - once you get settled in let us know where you are working and maybe some of the Santana Row Sat car meet people will come by

No, It is not left bank.
Will let everyone know when I get moved and settled.
I think I found a place. THE WOODS off of Capitol Express and Snell. Only Problem is no car wash area and no working on vehicles permited
Is this the norm with apts? Ive always had a house before. this is my first apt.

Hey MiniChef,
I appologize for arriving to this thread so late, must have just browsed right over it. The Woods is right down the street from me, and is by far the most popular apt complex that I know of in the area (tons of people I know have stayed there at one time or another).

As far as the rules, that's mostly the way it is around here, in my experience. If I'm not mistaken, they do have a few apts w/ garages but they're probably expensive.

Look forward to meeting you!
