Herb Chambers MINI have been very supportive of MINIsOnTop, donating a two year MINI Cooper lease both in 2005 and 2006!
See this discussion between HC & MoP on MINI2:

I had an overall good experience.
The day when i went in to handle the financing and pick-up the mini is the day i was 2 seconds away to back out of the deal completly.
It was the worst experience i have ever had wen financing a car because i have never had some one give me completly diferent rates after i have signed the agreement and gave myt deposit

Yeh i had huge issues with them. Never got the same story twice. Numbers were always differant. The also told me that mini select and motoring leases were not avaliable in Mass. Bull *&^%. MoP offers them. The sales man i was dealing with was a stuck up A*&. Had the attitude as if he didnt care if i bought the car or not. He was a very insulting person. So i started to deal with the sales manager, she was ok at first and then giving me differant payments and rate in the span of a week, and told me i could only do a traditional fin or reg lease , no other were available. No i know there is at lease 2 other ways. I am prob not going to use anything other then a traditional fin but i want to know all my options and make my own choice.

Two thumbs way up for MoP, vin and joel. Those guys were great it was like dealing with two old friends, they made my wife and daughter feel very comfortable. We drove 2hours to a dealer want to be treated well, i dont want my butt kissed either.
Everyone at Mop was great can wait to go back up and pick up my car...

thanks guys...

chris

I'm actually going to purchase an R56 from Herb Chambers. The people have been very nice and helpful so far. I also went to MOP and wasn't treated as nice. No problems yet at Herb..hopefully.

I went to Buy my 05MCS at Herb chambers because it is withing a couple miles of my house. But the sales rep said he wouldn't quote me a rate and the cost of the car with financing until after it had arrived. I tried to explaining that without knowing the rate, you rally can't figure out what the cost of the car really was. The sales rep then told me to order the car, and come back with my parents to get the financing, when I was ready to take delivery. I convinced him to run my credit and sure enough I was able to get financing. But by then I was fed up and went to MoP, and bought my car from them. I found financing on my own, a full point lower then what HC quoted me.

Since then the service guys at MoP have been outstanding.

I am not impressed with Herb Chambers. I originally started at Herb Chambers with Richard Tran.....good sales person (very helpful in answering my questions and knew where I could open up the car to really test drive it) at least that is what I thought. After my first visit there, I called back to set up some time to get my old car appraised for a trade in and he never returned my called. I left 2 messages on his voicemail and one with the receptionist. Finally, I went to Mini of Peabody....also not entirely happy with them too (another story for a different thread).

I've had no experience with Herb Chambers, but I just bought an '06 MCS from MINI of Peabody. Everybody there has been fantastic; friendly, gracious, and extremely welcoming. I felt like I was hanging out with friends instead of buying a car. No pressure, extremely straightforward with all the numbers, and Vinnie and Elise were very patient with all of my questions. I highly recommend them!

My sales experience at HC in 2002 was great, but the aftersales was terrible. I therefore had to take my car to MoP. Their service department was fantastic, even though I didn't buy the car from them. When I bought my new MCS this year I obviously used MoP. They are the best dealer I have ever come across.

I believe that HC are trying to improve their act, but from the stories I keep hearing I think they still have a long way to go before they can claim to be on par with MoP.

I also just had a very good experience w/ joel and vinnie at MINI of Peabody. Bought an '03 today - very much appreciated their no-nonsense, no-BS, straightforward approach.

Thank you!!! I am really excited. I haven't owned a car in over a year (I live in the city with an easy commute to work by foot, bus, bike) and was thrilled to find the deal that I did. Never would have guessed I could own a Mini without breaking the bank.

I bought my R56 a couple months ago. I ended up buying from MoP but started at HC. At the time I was planning on buying off the lot and the HC website had a lot more MINIs listed on their site. I called over and asked if all the cars on the site were actually available for sale and if I could test drive one over the weekend. I was told yes and yes. I drove there on a Sunday and was told that a salesperson took their only R56 test car home for the weekend but that it would be back by Wednesday. They have a very small show-room area and didn't have any R56 S's that I could even look at. I went over to the HC Honda dealer on the same lot and test drove an SI (the sales experience there was REALLLY bad) and told them I wanted to test out an R56 so they called over to the MINI dealership (even though I told them I just came from there) and then told me that an R56 would be available for a test drive on Monday. I called Monday and they said it wouldn't be available until later in the week. I sent MoP an email that day and they set me up for a test drive the next night. I went to MoP, test drove, spec'ed out an R56, and put in the order.

All in all I didn't have a full experience with HC, but it was frustrating none-the-less. As others have mentioned, I too felt like they really didn't care if I bought a car from them or not. MoP made sure that I knew they take care of their customers from the first email I sent to them. Doesn't make sense to me, HC lost an easy sale (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). The worst part is when I called back on the Monday night to HC I was told that they never allow test drives on the weekends. I was upset about the fact that I was told I could test drive it and also completely perplexed as to why they wouldn't want to facilitate customers on the two days that working people could take the time to test drive a vehicle.

It seems pretty idiotic to let a salesperson take their only current model home, especially on the weekend when sales is the busiest!

Another nice thing about MOP is that they will also let you look at things that might not be in one of their showroom cars, but in one of the often dozens of cars on their lot already sold and waiting for delivery.

I had a great expierence at HCM in Boston. They loballed me on my trade but eventually worked things out. The sales guy was great, pretty quick took about 3-4 hours from walk in to driving out with my new MCS.

How about the HC collision center? That is where my car is now. I bought mine at MOP, but HC was more convienient for the repairs, and their collision center also does BMW, Porche and Benz, on top of MINIs.

Sorry to hear about the SUV attack! Let us know how it turns out. MOP doesn't have a collision shop anyway. They used to send you to Sublime but are now forced to recommend Today's in Malden.
