As some of you know.. there actually WAS a MINI run to Montauk Point back on Sept 21st... only one car made the run.. and 2 met at the Point..
So sue (my much better half) is asking me to set up a run (or the same route) run again or try it again.. maybe a northern route this time.. since we are getting to foliage time.. who knows..
but I would like to hear from some folks...
it seems no one wants to respond on another forum.. so I will try here,
John (GMINI) also mentioned he was sorry he mentioned the "CUFN" notice for the Montauk Point thread.. citing that might have been the reason the turnout was so poor.. (actually.. the turnout was non-existent... only Sue and I went on our route.. and met GMINI out at the point.. Had a funny photo placing 2 MINIs end to end along a 64 Cadillac...)

YESSSS!!!! I am in for any Long Island meet! Jones Beach was awesome a couple months ago. We had a great turnout and would love to see those numbers again! Come on! Where are all you islanders?

BUMP!!!! This thread has only been viewed 14 times!! At least 5 of those are me! Come on - I know there are many more LIer's out there. You guys have to start checking the NY/New England region forums every once in a while. NOW...who's up for another Island meet?

Although I no longer reside in Long Island, I would definaltely be up to something there. BTW, went I went to the meet at Jones Beach, I remember some people talking about doing a toys for tots in the area. Unfortunately, I forgot who mentioned it.

It was Mooker & Jeff
Mooker sold his mini (supercharged mini )& jeff hasn't been around (nitrous mini/13secmini)

uh scuze me.. but there WAS one.. just no one showed up! had a route and all.. and GMINI (John) was already out in Montauk. The route went from Roosevelt Field over to Sweet Hollow in Huntington and over to the Long Island Motor Parkway.. (I had a reason for that.. it's the oldest limeted access (ok. it WAS originally limited access) parkway in the US and I'm part of a group trying to hold on to whats left of it. so we (excuse me... Sue and I) took it in it's entirety from Half Hollow Hills road to Lake Ronkonkama and then around the lake.. and out to 24 and down past the Big Duck and onward out to the point (where we met John .. and later another MINI owner from CT.. took some pics.. they are on MINI2 ..which is where I usually hang out..) sue and I were thinking of another northern route... I've been driving all across LI for a long time.. usually shooting (photos) and all types just to see where roads lead.. I wanted to include the roads of northern Nassau and also Snake Hill Road but it got too involved to go all the way out to Montauk...

Rob - I'm also very interested in a longer cruise across the island. I'm pretty bad about planning routes, dates, etc. but give me a date (and no CUFN warning) and I will be there!

Just mentioned the Toys4Tots stuff to sue and she would want do that too! just dont know when that is...
As for my run.. well.. still no date but definatly I will go out that way on Jan 1 if it is not earlier.. any idea who is helping 13 with the T4T stuff??

ps had a good walk today.. went to Central Park for the 10th annual Making Strides (againt Breast Cancer) walk today... just a 5 mile walk around the park and such and more.. (smile)
As for my run.. well.. still no date but definatly I will go out that way on Jan 1 if it is not earlier.. any idea who is helping 13 with the T4T stuff??

Well now that there is so much interest in both TFT and a general cruise, how about a date and a route ?
GMINI my plans for traveling keeps changing due to some interviewing activities with my job search. My wife is getting tired of me being home tells me I am much too young to be retired, so I am in discussions with 2 Hi tech companies here on the island about a management position. Hope to have things at a point that I can finally go to Florida to spend a week with my sister.

As far as the TFT run.. would you want a general run like we (excuse me..I) did out to the point??? or a loop run on various parts of LI? Or the small and twisty stuff in the north shore of Nassau and in Huntington???? I know a slew would LUV Snake Hill Road in Cold Spring Harbor.. but doing All the nice roads and going out to The End would take too damn long..
As I said.. for the Montauk run I did come up with a nice route..
Since we have people all over LI and in Queens and Brooklyn... any ideas???
also WHEN??? it's starting to really chill.. and standing outside in the cold is not my ideal type of meeting. Anyone have any connections to a place/school/museum/restaurant???
As for Sue and my normal yearly run out on jan 1.. we usually bring either hot apple cider (spiced) or get hot chocolates out at the point.. and end up at the Steamroom in Port Jeffereson. As to where I am.. I'm in Freeport.. about 4 blocks from Hassel MINI.
