NYC area MINIs!
Well, you snooze you loose. Although that is totally not proper civic manners. Good catch! When I started the vid I thought I was going to see the bright white lights on the crown vic hitting on to your car.
All good though!
Love this city, best place to live and enjoy life.
Have a nice one today!!

Oh my! That's expensive. I went to TintMax out in Flushing. I have never been out there before. It's suburbia and it was kind of hard to find. Past that moment of been quite lost, the tint job was great and the owner is quite a nice guy. His price was $180 with a full hand wash service with the interior included.
I totally recommended and I tend to be very picky about these things. Also, if you ever need to get the car washed and like me, you don't like or would ever get your ride through a car wash, he is really good.
The guys there do a very nice job and the wash sequence they follow (at least on my ride) was good.
I didn't see the classic start from bottom and take all the nice grime to the top and scratch the finnish kind of deal.
David
*Tint setup:
My interior is all black including the headliner so I went with 50% all around. I didn't install in the windshield, neither the Sunroof. So now that I think about it, perhaps that's why yours cost so much more than mine. I was going to do the sunroof but the installer said I don't needed. Oh well, in the end who cares if you actually like the results right?

this past summer, i dropped off my mini in midtown and got all my windows/sunroof, including the entire windshield tinted with Huper Optik for $500 by Tom of theartoftint.com. nice guy and he does an amazing job and huper optik lives up to it's hype IMHO. it's heat protection is pretty amazing for how light i picked the tints, 60% windshield, 50% all around. i did 40% for the sunroof. with low reflectivity, it's a very subtle look.

I hear that.. distractions have kept me from forums; also, building a business can be challenging, trying, but fun.. and don't forget doing it in a bad economy..
representing the bronx. just an mc with some dodgey electrical modifications and a loose fan belt. but... i do have a sticker on the side of my car. perhaps i could be support?

the sticker used to have a big bug in the middle of it (previous owner). i was lazy and black duct tape was on sale.

the diagonal stripe is infact black duct tape, so i thought about putting a picture of maybe george w. or maybe even my mother, but getting the vinyl cut might have been more effort than it was worth!
the addition of the duct tape was primarily to remove the bug sun-stain. it had been on there for about 5yrs when i bought the car and it was still easily visible. i didn't have a garage to work in and the parking garages kept kicking me out when they saw a rakish looking man with a huge white dog, rotating a propane tank heater with an open flame around his mini coopers gas tank! it was the dead of winter in snowy syracuse ny and way too cold to remove the big decals adhesive, without a base temperature of 50 or 60 degrees and a serious directional heat source. on the other side i briefly tried out this emblem, until i was informed--by a crew cut sporting parking attendent--that the symbol on the side of my car was used by the kkk. yeah... that was a bit of a shock to someone supporting a black president, while living in a prodominently black neighborhood with many well educated black friends!!! needless to say, i nixed the klan sign and went for a more universal "no" sign. this way if my radar/laser detector fails and i get pulled over and handed a ticket, i just point to the sticker, give the officer a stern "no." and drive away with brazen assurance that i'll be fine. by the way, i just checked the mail and the nystate dmv claims my license has been suspended for unpaid tickets, evading arrest, etc etc.

ps: i wasn't really into being called an "x-men nerd"

Hi Turbo Mini,
I guess I have noticed you in and around in brooklyn.
My question to you was would you be aware about any Good Local MINI repair shop in Brooklyn. I live in Cobble Hill Brooklyn near Parkslope and need to get my Brake pads replaced.
Any feed back from fellow MINI owners would be appreciated too.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Till then
Happy Motoring

I didn't see a description of the car you have, but I have a BRG Cooper S with "MINY" vanity plates if you want to try and spot it around town

Hey Paul,
Thanks for the reply, I drive a CHili Red COoper S with "S" lites and antracite interiors and am on Hoyt and Degraw.
I would appreciate if you would have a chance to find the name.
Have you heard of L&M foreign cars on Utica Ave, they apparently specialize in BMW's and most german cars. Let me know your thoughts about it.
I am in need for Front Pads and ROtors and Rear Pads as per Mini of Manhattan, well I would like a second opinion from a local shop since its from my pocket.
WIll catch you around the slope or the hill.
Happy Motoring

I can recommend Tyrol Sport in Ridgewood, Queens, right at the border of Brooklyn. They specialize in MINI's as well as other Euro cars ... great guys, always good work, reasonable rates ... give Mike a call. 917-626-3368

Will try and check it out, although I'm reluctant to drive the car since last sunday the "Wear brake indicator" light popped up. SOme of the threads read that it might screw up the rotors bcoz of the sensors get ripped of and there might be metal contact. So I'm unsure about it, but will definitely call Mike and check i out.
