Speakers in stock non-HK system

It is right to assume 4" spks in front and rear running off the radio?

The Big Book of Automotive Compatibility - also known as www.Crutchfield.com - doesn't list anything for the CM, yet. You're just going to have to open her up and take a look. Let us know what you find.

Nothing is wrong with the stock system, much like nothing is wrong with a base model Countryman. Some just like the added benefits of the upgraded model.

I opted for the HK upgrade, and still wish it was better, but my last car had a full custom system in it. I just didn't feel like taking the time and money to do that in the MINI

Cool. I figured the HK system was better, it also has 2 more speakers/subs IIRC.

I just didnt want the basic stero to be horrible. like "it totally distorts after vol. 5 & the reception is horrid" "my AM transistor sounded better"
LOL - I was afraid it was like that :P
Mine is on order awaiting production.

Smile Non HK speakers

Just picked up my countryman the other day. It came with the non HK setup. The sound was ok but it could be improved. I looked all over the internet and no luck finding the speaker sizes. So I removed the door panels uncharted territory. The front and rear door speakers are all 4" and 4 ohm. I removed the 4 stock speakers and replaced them with JL audio coaxial speakers http://www.jlaudio.com/tr400-cxi-car...-systems-91029. They sound quality is much better. They fit just fine withe no rubbing or modification needed. I might eventually order the HK tweeters that mount on the base of the window frame on the front doors. There is additional wiring in the door for them. I did not pull up the seats but there is a set of mid bass speakers under them. Based off of another thread on NAM the speakers under the seats are 6 1/2 inch. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3491657. overall I'm happy with the sound for now. Might get brave and pull up the front seats one day. Cost of speakers locally $ 178.00 plus the cost of wiring conectors. Hope this helps some of you.
