aftermarket speakers

Hey everyone, I am going to be installing JBL three way speakers to replace the factory units. Mine blew The model numbers are; GTO637 and GTO937. The fronts are 6 1/2's and the rear side pannels are 6x9's. I just need to know if my factory unit has enough power to push these speakers?
If not should I replace it with an aftermarket unit(I will stick with Alpine), or can I install an amplifier so that I can retain the factory look and steering controls?

PLEASE HELP

Also, I do not have the H/K.
Also, I want to get the maximum performance out of these speakers.

Thanks to all of you who help with any suggestions.

If you want to amp them but retain the factory head unit you can always go for something like the JL Audio Cleansweep. It allows you to have the benefits of an aftermarket headunit while keeping the stock one in place

I am also planning on adding a 10" sub this summer. How should I go about adding an amp? Do I add a 5 channel amp so that I can run the four speakers and the sub on one amp? Or do I install an amp (four channel? for the four speakers), and then one for the sub (a mono amp?)?

Please Need More Info!!! AHHH
I am too new to this audio stuff.

Again thanks for the responses.

Also, I do not want to spend all my limbs on these amps.

The clean sweep sounds good, but I am not sure if it will do what I need it to. Sounds like it just tunes the stock speakers? Maybe I am not understanding the info correctly.
Thanks though for the suggestion
Much appreciated

You could really do it either way. If you want to spend the money, then buy a 4 channel amp for the main speakers, and buy another amp to control the subwoofer.

If you are looking for the more economical route, you can buy a single 4-channel amp, run the two front speakers off of it and use the other two channels to run the subwoofer. Your rear speakers would just be powered by your headunit. I personally did this in my Mazda and was very happy with the results.

As far as the cleansweep, I was under the impression that it can be used for either. I think I remember a magazine article where they used one on an S4 that had a otherwise completely custom stereo. The owner wanted to keep the stock headunit to not draw attention from theives.

Just do some planning-
You got speakers to power:
Front component speakers
rear speakers
Subwoofer

So that's 4 channels plus the sub

One amp for the sub
plus one four channel amp for the rest
or
One four channel amp to power the fronts and bridge two channels for the sub and drive the rears off the headunit
or
One amp for the sub
One two channel amp for the front component speakers
and drive the rears off the headunit

right now I have
one Boston Amp 275 Watts powering JL steathbox sub
Xtant 4.4i 4 channel amp bridged and powering just the front component MBQuarts (200 Watts per channel)
Nakamichi head unit CD400 powering rear two way 6x9 MBQuarts (50W per channel)

You can add or bridge amps for various combinations of speakers as you upgrade.

FINALLY DONE

OK so I finally got my speakers installed. I did 6.5s in the front and 6x9's in the rear. I have the JBL GTO's and they are all three ways! Man I cannot believe the quality of these speakers! I did not buy an amp yet and I really do not think that I need one, the factory head unit powers them plenty. The only thing I have to complain about is now I am itching for a sub...hmm.

Well thank you to all that aided me in this thread.
