The splash screens are posted now. There are alot of differet ones and a good mix of both the R56 and the R53 photos.

Not sure where the POI files are kept. I am sure that they are not intergrated and just an add on file.

Thanks to everyone who has made getting the srf files possible! You guys rock! And, just in time for my trip to Spain tommorrow. Of course I'll be in a Merc A140 no MINIs available... but no worries! The splash screens look great and the cars are fun. There are a couple of R56 MINIs and some R53 from what I can tell.

Here is a helpful link for editing the car files! When I get back, I plan on coloring a sparkling silver and white MINI with a roof rack... I also cross posted the file link and credits on GPSPassion since there are a number of people there who have been waiting for the MINI files. Fun, fun, fun. Now... has anyone paid the $175 for the kit and installed it? Difficult?

Wanted to get it but it won't work with my chrono pak. I'll get the Garmin unit it's based on instead.

The following link is for a site that has free POI files one of which is MINI Dealerships under the first listing for auto/cycle dealerships (16). All you'll have to do is register which is also free.

Thanks for the link. I've downloaded them to my computer. Where do they go in my Garmin NUVI 350? Sorry for the dumb question, but that's me a dumb old fart.

I like the concept of the bracket attached to the back of the Tach to secure the Nuvi in place. I however do not care for the position much as it appears to be clearly obstructed by the steering wheel.

I would love to work with someone to build an articulating bracket that could position the Nuvi on the left of the the tack in the 9 o'clock position (like the MINI bracket) but have the ability to rotate it upward roughly 90 degrees to position it up just above the tachomoeter in the 12 o'clock position. I see this as a great alternative position when you need to be able to quickly glance at the NAV and still have a minimal amount of windshield obstructed.

Anyone out there with some stamping equipment and skills want to work with me to build such a beast?

Crude example...

I was thinking of trying to fab something similar. Count me in if you manage to get some made.

Could someone summarize for me, does the Mini Portable NAV system (Nuvi 360, I think) hook into the HK sound system and if so does it provide adequate sound? I am here in Texas and none of the installers here seem to know about hooking it into the stereo at all.

I've got the 350 with a headphone jack output and I simply hook it up to my aux port on my HK and I can then hear it through my sound system.

When you do this, are you also using the GPS as your music source? I tried to find a way to listen to another source (iPod, CD, or radio) while still being able to hear the GPS prompts through the AUX input, but I don't think you can listen to more than one input at the same time.

better late than never

I'm a little late to this thread but I just wanted to thank hunter99 and Nor_Cal_Mini for the files. Now the little car on my 660 matches the real thing! (BRG with a Union Jack roof)
