I just purchased an 04 Cooper S with Navi. Unfortunately the previous owner had the Navi module stolen. Does anyone know if its a DVD based Navi? Where i can find a unit for a good price? Thanks in advance.

 

An '04 would be DVD based. Good luck finding a new one - the older CD based unit users have been looking for a while. Bummer the previous owner didn't have insurance to replace it.

 

That sounds weird. . the Navi module is under passenger seat. I wonder how it got stolen.... but anyway 04 must be a DVD base unit.

 

I agree with you that it sounds weird but the car doesnt have the unit :( Is it hard to instal?

 

If all wiring still exists, it won't be too hard... You may need to pull out the seat and carpet. But I am not sure if a new unit need to be program or initialized from dealer?! Otherwise you can do a search to download the latest firmware for the new unit.

 

So the module is under the carpet? or simply under the seat?

 

Never mind, the module is actualy there. The previous owner did not know what he was talking about. I think that the module is broken because the power light does not work, and the NAV screen lights up but does not show anything.

No doubt - if it's an '04, get thee to your nearest dealer and let the warranty do its magic!

 

Will do warranty magic next week. Ill let you guys know what version of the DVD I'll end up with if they can't eject the old one from the module.
