Factory NAV and Euro Mode

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I'll try to summarize briefly.

I upgraded my firmware from something really old -can't remember- v.21? to v.27 The first upgrade attempt failed. 2nd upgrade attempt failed. So I installed v.26, which was a success, but apparently knocked me into "Euro mode" because it thought I was downgrading from v. 27 (now I have no nag screen, I am in yards instead of feet, MPG are off b/c it is in imperial gallons)

I burned another copy of v.27 and tried the upgrade again, this time it worked. However, I am still in "Euro mode" and can't seem to get out. Does anyone know how to get out of "euro mode"? I actually played dumb and asked the dealer, pointing out everything that's wrong with it, without telling them that I messed with the firmware on my own, but they just called me back and said they don't see anything wrong with it because "it's in miles and not Km", so they obviously don't know what I'm talking about.

Does anyone know how to get out of euro mode or how to explain to the dealer what I mean by euro mode???

I think the only way to get back out of "no location" or euro mode is the dealer...

Wouldn't you just get out of NAV, go to computer screen, then choose set and change the settings?

That's true.. there is no other way to reset it.
I was in Euro mode for a year. I kind of like the Euro mode, since it gives you better MPG reading.. (imperal gallon )

I think the best thing is keep playing dumb and complain about distances in yards and mpg being off. You could say that your "research on the Internet" indicates that the unit went into no location mode and needs to be reset to USA mode.

So you did eventually have your dealer reset it? How did you describe to them what needed to be done?

Yeah, I tried telling them that "from what I have learned on the MINI boards" is "that the GPS is in OEM/Euro mode and requires a dealer reset". I actually got to speak to the tech guy, who was very nice, but looked at me with a blank look when I told him about "euro mode". He clearly has never heard of it, and I don't know any other way to describe it to them.

They think distance in yards is normal and I think they think I'm crazy when I tell them my mpg is off. I asked them if they think my MCS is really getting 31mpg in the city.

I tried to have them reset it, but they don't understand what is wrong with it, they still think there's nothing wrong with it and that I'm nuts.

I told them that all of a sudden my distances were in yards instead of feet, that my MPG calculations are off. Later I also mentioned that I don't even get the nag screen anymore, that it also disappeared. I said I did some searching on the MINI boards on the problem and it seems like my GPS is in what other people are describing as "Euro Mode" which requires a dealer reset.

They did install OS v 27.1 but I'm still in Euro Mode.

lol, yeah, I can impress my friends with that, 'tis true. I've been in Euro mode for about 2 months now. I thought I could live with it, but it really is making me crazy now. I would like my mpg to be correct. I can do it by hand like I've always done, but that's why I have a car that does it for me! : )

fwiw, "perspective" view also doesn't seem to work, I'm not sure if that is related?

Oh I see, you were asking Francisk (duh, just waking up here!) Yes, so Francisk, did you get out of euro mode, and how?

Did you do both steps? It first has to be enabled in the service menu. Then click while in a map, and under Map Direction it should list Driving Direction, Pointing North, and Perspective.
