Auto-Dismissal of Accept/Nag Screen with V27

Hi All,

Man! If the new 3D Perspective (i.e. bird's eye) view in the MINI's factory nav system wasn't enough to get you to upgrade, then this just might be...

It turns out that there is a new feature in the V27 update that now causes the silly Accept/Nag screen to automatically dismiss itself after being displayed on the screen for around 3-5 seconds.

That's very cool! Way to go BMW!!!

I hadn't noticed, and that's great! I had gotten in the habit of pushing the button when I start out, and in the past few days I got confused af few times when the map was already showing. I assumed I'd already pushed it although couldn't remember doing so, but now this explains what was happening. This feature alone makes V27 worthwhile.

D'oh!

I won't comment on that one.

I wish I could help, but I'm afraid that I don't do Mac.

Macs rule!! Just change the "bmw v27.mdf" file designation to "bmw v27.iso" and copy disk using Toast, as an image file. Select "mount" the screen image will show "read from: NAV_SW". All you do then is hit the burn button and all is done. Oh, don't forget to load a blank CD.

Good luck

V27 is sweet, especially in 3D mode. The British female voice makes it even better.

Computer companies named after fruit, software products named after food (e.g. Toast & Jam, Popcorn, etc.)... I'm soooo confused??? :impatient

Glad to hear that you can just rename the image as an ISO and it will work though.

I sent mdsbrain a native ISO version of it yesterday, and he has put it up on his site. MotoringFile's news story has also been updated to notify of this change. And no, I didn't simply rename the .mdf file... I actually created the ISO image from the CD itself (which, in turn I had burned with Alcohol 120%, as necessary).

MotoringFile - MINI Navigation V27 Makes it to the Web

mdsbrain.com MINI Blog - Nav os V27 for MACs

Of course, mdsbrain site is slightly offtrack when he simply calls it "for MACs"... since ISO is a cross-platform standard that will work with ANY CD burning program. Anyone with a PC who doesn't want to download or install Alcohol 120% can simply use the ISO file.

Oooooh! Great info, Mike. The 3-D wasn't enough by itself, but an auto dismissing nag screen makes it worth the effort. Sweet!
