Digital POWER Sound Module

Has anyone noticed the new audio upgrade on Miniusa.com?

"Digital POWER Sound Module - Designed for the Mini, this hi-fi system delivers unparralleled power, sound quality, and style, courtesy of a Class D digital amplifier, liquid cooled tweeters, a 160mm front woofer, and 6x9 rear coaxial speakers"

It's listed under the accesories tab, under audio and electric of course.

Oh yeah, it's $1650 bucks! I'm sure that's not installed either. It would have to kick some major tushy to be worth that much. I'm guessing it'll be a few months before anyone sees one... keep your eyes and ears peeled! :impatient

That might be installed - the "sheet" at the dealer (CF) said $1250.

I saw someone on MINI2 I think that had installed it.....

I'm wanting to see if someone has gotten the high $$ Bluetooth in the armrest yet and seen if you can do it without the armrest so I can toss my phone in the back...

I have only seen one person on NAM report installing it: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...6&postcount=70. I've also read about someone on MINI2 who installed DPSM. He said it is seriously loud, and when he bumped the volume control while trying to change stations, it left his head throbbing.

I heard it.

It thumps, I have the HK in my convertible,
The power sound module is louder and has a more all-around base to it, I don't know the manufactor of the amp or speakers, it has the same deck, just swaped out the amp.
It also has some outside peices that are color mattched over the grill, which is the expasion of the larger speakers 6x9 if i remember.
I heard this in a new Checkmate Made MINI at MINI of Pittsburgh.

I would have to hear it in the convertible, to tell you if its better then my HK, but it is pricey and i don't think people with go for it like the bluetooth.

Unless your a hifi person, the HK has the clearity, Sound power module has the power, if you know what i am talking about.

You can tell it has bigger speakers and more power, thats about it.

Hope this helps

AlpinaMike's comments remind me of how I felt when I was checking out the H/K in the Mini. My '96 T-Bird (Sweetest one on the eastern seaboard) had a 1400 watt all pioneer system I installed, and I loved the sound quality and the power. The H/K sounded like an AM radio in comparison. I've grown to appreciate the quality of the H/K since then once I made the switch... and have put my money into the performance Mods only so far. It's tempting to go back to a more powerful system. I'll have to hear it before I drop the money... you can build a pretty sweet system for $1600. (Not including installation.)

If anyone from DC to Carolina has one... let me know!

Interestingly, the speakers and crossovers for the DSPM bear a striking resembence to MBQuart RCE series components...
