A stupid audio question

I recently ordered a 2006 MC and am very excited. I have a question about the head unit that comes standard with the HK system. If I put a CD with mp3 files on it into the CD player does the HU display the ID3 tags? I have never had an MP3 capable CD player before so I am sorry if this is a really dumb question. Thanks

It is a great question and unfortunately

the designers of the radio where too stupid to consider reading out the id3 tags on the display. instead you get a useless "TR-01-24" or something close to that where the 01 indicates the directory or folder number and 24 is the 24th song in that folder.

There is a way to display text on the stock radio by switching it into satellite mode (even if you don't have satellite radio service). A guy by the name of David Bloome figured this out using the ibus connector in the rear of the car where the cd changer goes. I got it working also, but my efforts stalled and I think that (not tested yet) you can't switch without affecting the audio source and that means it would be useless to display the names if they cant be displayed while the song is playing, and interrupt the audio to switch from mp3 mode to satellite mode to display them.

I love the MP3 disc function, and just put up with the really, really, REALLY annoying and stupid "TR-01-24" messages...

Hope this helps you somehow....

I think that answers my question. Bummer. Not that I really need to see the info that's in the tags anyway but it would have been cool to see.

Yes, not all is needed but song title or song title / artist is much more useful than TR-01-24!!
