6 1/4's in doors, 6x9's in rear.

EDIT:
Oh. And on HK systems, it's still 4 speakers. They lie and count two of the speakers as four.

I've gone to your link, nice pictures. The only part I didn't seem to understand was how you solved the problem in the lower doors of fitting the pioneer speakers. It seems there was a steel brace there that didn't allow the speaker to sit flush. How did you solve that problem?

For the HKs, MINI actually counts 8, and there's actually 6 (two are two-way).

Does the standard stereo use two-way speakers in the same place? No? Then it counts. A separate tweeter and midrange is technically still two separate speakers, whether they are mounted in the same place or not.

Separates obviously have better definition than "one speaker fits all", so the benefit of two extra speakers is felt.

Don't you mean 5 1/4"? You can fit many 6 1/2" speakers in the door with an adapter plate as well.

I thought the one's I pulled out were 6 1/4, and the ones I put in were 6 1/2's.

The adapter plate came from NewMiniStuff.com in the UK.

And the HK system is 8, but really 6... Instead of 6 but really 4 as I mentioned earlier. I forgot about the extra tweeter in the doors.
