From what I've been reading, it sounds like the ICElink Plus is the way to go. It displays ID3 tags so you can see more infromation that just "playlist1", "playlist2", etc. That's what I'll be getting unless the BMW changes theirs to do the same.

Yep, I got the Icelink Plus for my 06 and it is great. My understanding is that BMW/MINI will not have a new IPOD adapter until early next year. However, there are some shops that still have a few old ones in stock. Apparently they are revamping them.

My dream I Pod adapter:
ID3 tags on radio or nav. Steering wheel control, no guessing it will work.

Still waiting.

Check out the Alpine "iPod Ready" head units along with their iPod interface adapter. Alpine decks (at least higher-end ones) work with steering wheel controls, and will display ID3 tags on the screen.

My friend has the Alpine CDA-9855 and likes it alot. He said browsing through artists is somewhat tedious, but you can always find the album you want using the iPod, press play and then plug it in... or just make playlists beforehand.

What generation iPod do you have?

I just received a 5th generation video iPod, and am having difficulty finding any sort of accessory that specifically states compatability.

From reading what people have posted here on NAM, the the 3rd, 4th, and 5th G iPods all work with the ICELink Plus.

Yep, had a buddy plug his IPOD video into my Icelink Plus and it worked like a charm. Also, you can control the ipod via steering and have ID3 tags on the display and nav as well. However, the car needs to be an 05 or 06 for the ID3 tags.
