Headunit

Anyone know where I can find a picture or diagram of the rear of the OEM non-HK headunit?

Not so much the actual wiring diagram... more like where the Nav system plugs in (and connector), where the iPOD plugs in (and connection type), etc...

if i'm not mistaken, there is only one plug for all your option equipment in the back. its one square plug that is the same for everyhting , be it a aux, Ipod adapter or sirius.

If that is so, how is the plug configured? I am investigating if I can put a switch inline so I can have iPOD and Sirius with my Nav

You probably have two matching connectors in the back, Nav is in one already. The iPod connector or an Aux Jack would plug into the other. My suggestion is to use the CD Changer connector in the boot for the Sirius.

Isn't that the same one as the iPOD?

if you have NAV and its hooked to the HU thru the "cd changer port" you cannot use any other items that use an AUX adapter. if i remember coreectly, blitzsafe makes something so you can use more than one item that uses that plug IE ipod and cd changer.....

Marc, any help here?

My HU has two connectors on the back (and yes it is a HK). On my 2003 Cooper that I got rid of, one was occupied by the Nav input. The other I connected to the Aux jack.

On my 2005 (with HK no NAV) I still have two connectors in back. Connected to the radio right now, Aux Jack, Sirius, Dension IceLink+, and Sony Ericcson HCB-300 Bluetooth kit. The ICELink is connected to the CD Changer plug in the boot. The Bluetooth kit uses the wiring harness from newministuff.com which also uses one of the connectors in the back, however the pins for the HCB-300 don't use the same pins that the AUX jack and other items use so they all share the connector with no problems.

Not sure what you're asking here. There's the MINI Aux Jack which is just a mini-headphone plug input to the radio. Seperate from that is the MINI iPod Adapter which only works with the iPod. The iPod Adapter offers limited control of your iPod with the steering wheel and HU to special playlists. The Aux Jack offers no control of your iPod...

The Aux Jack is also about $100 cheaper than the iPod Adapter.

I have the nav and the iPOD... dealer installed. I know that you cannot have the Nav, iPOD and Sirius b/c of the limited ports... you can have Nav and iPOD and Nav and Sirius... but not all three. I am looking at options... so before I take apart my dash I was hoping to get an idea of what is back there...

But, if you can still have the CD changer then you're still in business. Several companies make interfaces for XM and Sirius that use the CD Changer interface back in the boot.

I don't know if the CD changer and the NAV (or the iPod adapter) need any of the same pins on the plug into the HU. There were several of us with NAV who modded the plugs when the AUX jack first came out. AUX and NAV don't use the same pins on the plug, so you could open the plug, stick the pins from the AUX jack into the vacant spots on the plug for the NAV and connect the whole thing into the HU. All of the pieces worked as advertised.

As for the diagrams you seek, you could try Mike at newministuff.com, he knows a lot about the wiring in the MINIs, just PM mikeythemini

My guess is that the iPOD and CDchanger use the same connection
