xm Roadie2

Does anyone use the XM Roadie2? Is this a simple solution to the scrolling issue with satellite radio? Would someone please show a picture of this system mounted in your mini?

A Roady2 doesn't scroll. Sorry . You think that this day and age that they could. I mounted ours on the "big" cupholder.

I use

the roady 2 in my mini. I keep it lying on the cigarette lighter cup holder thing. Its connected to my AUX input. The only thing I don't like about it is you can't see, the station name/number, the artist and song at the same time. You only get 2 out of the 3 depending on the display setting. Another issue I also have is the signal str. isn't as good as it could be, I keep the antenna on my right passenger side dash, but ocassionally it cuts in and out. I don't want to put it outside since my cars the convertible and would rather not put any wires through the seals.

Wow, I'm kinda thinking that I should just get the Sirius subscription even though I currently subscribe to XM!

If you haven't purchased the Roady2 yet, I would highly recommend buying the MYFI instead. Awesome unit.

Blitzsafe only option for me

buy the xmdirect package through blitzsafe. I have it and wouldn't trade for anything. connects through the cd changer ports. all sterring wheel controls work. I had a sirius tuner with a blitzasfe adapter for a cd changer. It did not display any information on the head unit only station numbers.

I've got both the xm direct and the roady and are you ready for this........ I prefer the roady, so much I moved the direct to the wife's car!

Yes the xm direct is nicely hidden and a very clean install and interfaces with the MFSW (with the exception of the mode button on the 05's, what's up with that? ) But I like to see what is playing before I go to a channel and the direct entry method of channel selection is way better then scrolling manually.

The first time I mounted mine, I did it on a homemade bracket that came up between the wiper switch and the dash.

This time I used a gimble mount and the 35mm film container trick. I like!

They're right the roady doesn't scroll, but it will show you more info then the xm direct or factory unit will.

Good luck with your decision.

You take your normal 35mm film canister, the plastic type and use that as a base for whatever you want to mount. The canister fits over the trim on the hazard or dimmer **** for the interior lights. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the canister and into the gimble mount and poured quick setting epoxy to bond the 2 pieces together. Works great, and hasn't wiggled a bit on these roads around here.

Have a pic, sorry for quality, but I just took them a few minutes ago.

Edit: from the drivers seat the unit doesn't block the speedo as much as photo 3 makes you think.

hmmm

So you need to pull that off to turn on your hazards. I kinda like the 2 push buttons around the speedo (or the nav system in my case) looks very retro and different.

Or pull it off to dim the interior lights; 6 of one, half dozen of another

As I said I like the features of the roady over the xm direct and with the second antenna I bought, I can easily move the unit to my other rides, be they cars or aircraft
