Another XM Radio issue thread...

'03 standard hu w/blitzsafe adapter...Scan seems to function as the manual says, by cycling through the available XM categories. Manual says to push the scan (m) button again (while categories are cycling) to select the first channel of the selected category. A normal "push" of the button when the category is displayed does not do it. Mine takes a push of about 2-4 seconds. The problem is, the categories are only displayed for 2-4 seconds, so unless you hit the button the instant the desired category displays, you will in most cases end up getting the first station of the NEXT category. Is it me, my equipment or is this a "feature"?

Also, any word on the XM artist/title scrolling issue with the Blitzsafe? Enabling "Scroll On" gives that cute little astrisk, but it sort of lost it's novelty once I saw that it did nothing else.

Found the problem with XM scanning and scrolling...

There is a difference between how the "scan" button works on the MFSW and on the head unit. If you have no MFSW, like myself, you cannot stop the scan using the scan (M) button. You can stop it by using the SAT or INF buttons however...but since nobody really seemed to care in the first place...for what it's worth...there it is.

The other issue (which people DO car about) is the XM scrolling issue. I worked with Blitzsafe on the above issue, and I brought up the problem of Artist/Title scrolling. He (don't want to mention his name as I didn't ask permission) told me that they removed that function as a result of surveys from alpha and beta testers. It was unanimous that the feature was more anoyance than of value. The reasoning was, if a name or title exceeded the first page (it is a paging function as opposed to a true scroll) then the second page would display the remaining characters only. For example: "GEORGE HAR" on page one and then "RISON" on the second. Each page would display for 3 or 4 seconds and the result was determined to be a major pain when considering the diversion of attention in monitoring the display and mentally pasting the words together.

That is correct, the scroll button is not a scroll function, it is a page function. From what I had been informed the way the MFSW reacts differently then the buttons on the headunit in this instant.

With a little programming, you CAN do a 'fake true' scroll with this headunit.

scrolling text

Hey Marc, anyway you could do a firmware upgrade for those of us that would LOVE to have the feature?

Ditto! I would much rather deal with partial 2nd half names then not having the 2nd half at all. And true scrolling (not paging) would be primo.

I listen to Squizz (48) a lot on XM. I hear a ton of music that I have never heard before. Hit the INF button and all I see is "Puddle of "..... Puddle of what!?
