Trying to find is there a remote turn-on on factory HU (boost) for external amp or sub? Tried searching for 2 days now, can't find anything.
If there's no remote on HU, ho do you guys do it then? from ACC in key? any good place to splice the wire before I disassemble half of the car searching for one?
I'm trying to hook up Infinity powered sub in the trunk. I'll get main power from battery (I got S, it's in trunk), use speaker level inputs either from rear speakers or using PAC OEM2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There's no dedicated remote turn-on wire, but you can tap into the power antenna wire instead (white wire in harness).

I see there's onle wire saying Accessory. I think that's what I need. I'll test that over the weekend.

It's your system, but I think you'd be better off using the power antenna wire. That way the head unit is powered on before the amp. If the amp gets power before or at the same time as the head unit, you might get a "pop" sound in your speakers when you turn the key.

Sorry for waking the dead with this, but I am getting my '05 JCW MCS on Saturday and have a ? about this white wire. My amp will be mounted inside a false floor in the boot and I intend to run 2 60-80 mm fans to pull hot air out of the box. Does this white wire carry 12V and could it handle the power requirements of these 2 fans plus perform remote-on duty to the amp? My overall intent is to:

1. Tap wire in dash for this purpose.
2. Run remote/fan power wire through switch in "Euro Parcel Shelf".
3. From Switch to fans/remote amp connector.

Result: I can have Bass and a "cool" amp when I want it, not all the time.

Thanks for any feedback,

Chad

whenever i hear bout the pros doing stereo installs, they always use a switched power lead form somewhere besides the HU.

i never use the HU's remote power wire, i always use my own

pull from a switched power lead in the fuse box or pull directly from the battery, (or run a jumper from the power on the amp to a switch in the front of the car on the dash and back to the remote turn on....there are a few ways to do it.

if you need any more help , gimme a hollar, i just got dont doing all of my stereo stuff

Okay, let's look at the "switched power lead in the fuse box". As I have an MCS, I don't want to run from boot to dash, back to boot just to use battery+ or B+ on the amp as it will be sitting directly over battery and give the same extended wire run. I actually understand that I can tap any 12v source, but was wondering if one source/wire was recommended over others. Also, a color and location of this wire would be great. I will be mounting my switch in the "euro parcel shelf" (left side, right next to the blind plate).

switched power lead options......

simply use 16-18 gauge wire for all the switched power runs, its not neccesary for it to have any larger gauge than that
