Police Scanner

Does anyone know of a good in car police scanner that is not some huge thing; relatively small and mobile?

Thank you.

What do you think you are going to out run in the Mini? Maybe the Grumman Police Scooters!!! I do work for a number of the local police officers, on their personal vehicles. I haven't seen a scanner that was stealthy yet. Do a search on Google.

I am not looking for that at all. It's just nice to hear what's going on around you.

My hubby has a portable one in the car - he's a photographer so he's always in tune with what's happening - his is made by Uniden. We also have a non-portable one at home by the same maker. He's had that brand for years - no problems. Hope this helps...

I have a Sony 300Ch handheld, a Uniden 100ch handheld, and an AOR 1000ch handheld.

I will be buying a new Uniden TrunkTracker in a couple weeks.

I had one with me at MOTD. Listened to all the State and County operations all weekend, including the Mita crash Saturday night.

It's sad how many people I know that are entertained by just sitting around listening to that...or watching a bug zapper

Hey! A cold beer, a rocking chair, a bug-zapper and a police scanner... what more could you ask for on a Saturday night?

Heh, it's not that bad.

I only listen when I know something is going on, or when I am out driving with the possibility of safety issues, like at the Dragon.

.22? how about .45 or 9mm? 9mm is my personal choice, it's cheaper to shoot, but still has a satisfying destructive capacity.

Out here in the sticks there are many folks still "volunteering" to help during times of trouble. Most of our Fire Departments and rescue squads are VFD units. Been on many a call and not seen a single full timer.

What's really fun is when they mod their scanners to pick-up cell phone calls. Top notch entertainment on a Friday night here in the hills!
