Got my CarPlay done today by http://bimmer-remote.com. Took pretty much the full hour and went pretty smoothly as long as you follow the instructions and have everything ready. Scheduling was easy via WhatsApp. Unfortunately I forgot to apply the promo code during checkout so couldn’t take advantage of that. I do recommend using them, I know there are many guys out there that do the same thing.
Overall the head unit works well. It is entirely updated to a newer firmware. The wireless CarPlay (not full screen) works well on my 13 pro max. No issues so far and works smoothly. The backup cam and sensors are retained but is switched around (originally the rear view picture is on the left and sensors are on the right. Now with the update the cam is on the right and sensors on the left) refresh rate on the rear cam pic messed it up but no issues with the picture.
Anyone else's Waze not voice announce speed cameras and police via carplay when not on a route (just driving around with Waze active)? It works on carplay on my previous car and also works on bluetooth but doesnt work on carplay on the mini. Not sure if its a waze issue.
If anyone reading this is interested in a retrofit similar to Sarath's, please pm me. I was part of the group of people that helped Sarath with this retrofit and am posting here with his permission.
I have a 4 gigabyte NBT Evo originally from a Mini (that uses the blue GPS connector, so no ATM is required) and an 8.8" Mini touchscreen that I would sell, and I can help with the necessary flashing/coding of the headunit to make this essentially a plug and play process.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'm able to provide references if you're interested.
