ID4 to ID5 Retrofit Completed (MINI F56 JCW ).... Happy Carplay User...

You have NBT not NBTevo id4, right?
NBT doesn't have OABR plug so you cannot inject FSC. You can only code it.
#78
#79
So you have 3 options:
1. Put evo id6 replacing NBT and you need to pull out from the quadlock the Ethernet wires to create a OABR plug. Then u can code it, activate CarPlay etc..,
2. Put evo id6 in a BMW or MINI car that already have evo unit, activate it there on your vin, inject fsc, etc , then move it to your MINI
3. Put evoid6 on bench and do all the activation , carplay etc on the bench then retrofit NBT
Cheers

Hi everyone. I read this thread and some others and need your word (don't know if I understand correctly)
My car is a 2017 F55 with Visual Boost radio and Satellite Radio, Mini Connected and Phone. VIN is WMWXU1C57J2F80627.
1. I suppose I will need a NBT HU unit with SW at not lower than 3.1, right to run id5 or id6 without problems. And I suppose it has to be coded to my car. Is that right?
2. I will try to find 8,8" touch screen, but that will be not easy. From what I understood, new NBT will work without touchscreen on my 6,5" or on 8'8" non-touch - but again it needs configuration coding?
3. I suppose I can upgrade to touch controller with additional module for that. But I can stay with the original from my mini?
4. For all above - are there any wiring, or additional hardware needs?
Can you confirm, or explain a bit more?

Hi sb2002 - PillPusher84 from here recommended me to contact you about this - I tried PM's but I believe your Inbox is full so I'll just post it here.
I have a '19 f56 with 8.8" touch screen and I'd like to flash the latest GUI/software for that fresh new look. I saw some photos and I like the look of the new interface/GUI much better than my current one. I believe I should have all the hardware already and from what I understand I would only need someone to help me flash the latest software on the head unit. Is that correct? Can you help me with that and how much would you charge me? I live in Bronx/NY - are you close by or you'd do the work remotely? You can PM me if you prefer.
Thanks in advance.

If anyone reading this is interested in a retrofit similar to Sarath's, please pm me. I was part of the group of people that helped Sarath with this retrofit and am posting here with his permission.
I have a 4 gigabyte NBT Evo originally from a Mini (that uses the blue GPS connector, so no ATM is required) and an 8.8" Mini touchscreen that I would sell, and I can help with the necessary flashing/coding of the headunit to make this essentially a plug and play process.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'm able to provide references if you're interested.

Hello everyone,
I come from Germany and have already researched a lot on this topic on the Internet. However, I am an absolute layman and would hire a capable mechanic for this project.
However, I need to know what to do in general and in particular which parts I need.
I drive an F56 JCW from 2015 with 8.8" non-touch screen with all the functions that were available at the time. I am interested in converting to the 8.8" touch screen (with CarPlay, and everything that is new).
What is necessary for this? What do I have to buy, what must be done on the vehicle?
Thank you very much for the information!
Greetings from Germany
Fabian

I have a 2017 F56 JCW with a 8.8" screen. whats my best option for carplay? the ID4 -> ID6 with partial screen carplay? If I want a stable full screen carplay, would i need to get the mmi module add on? If I use this add on, will my factory back up cam/sensors work as it does now or does it use the mmi's interface?

Other options include retrofitting a native ID5 NBT Evo with your existing screen using an older firmware - you would still be limited to splitscreen CarPlay, but it would be stable while using factory GPS. You could also retrofit a native ID5 NBT Evo and a touchsceen, which would allow you to have the latest Mini user interface, fullscreen carplay, and reliable factory GPS.
The downside to these solutions is price, but please let me know if you have any questions. I have parts and lots of experience with similar retrofits.
