Hi everyone,
I just picked up my MC on friday and have found the nav system to be very useful for someone as prone to getting lost as i am. One problem that i wanted to know if others have also had: when I try to use the Information function the system crashes and reboots. I'm gonna go to dealer to see about getting the core software reinstalled or maybe a new cd-rom but I wanted to know if this is a widespread problem or am i just unlucky on this one detail.

Thanks, joe

Hm, I've never had that happen and I use the info section all the time. Maybe try taking out the CD and putting it back in again?

Yeesh! That's new.

I have been doing a lot of research on the NAV system and read (pretty much) every comment posted regarding the NAV system on MCO. Nowhere did anyone mention the problem you described.

I am not sure, but I do not believe the info screen (if you mean the info screen that displays how far you can go before refueling, temperature outside, etc) is tied into the CDs, but try the eject and reload procedure anyway. If it still does not work, bring you car back to the dealer ASAP. They'll want you happy when you're filling out the dealer satisfaction survey!

This is an FAQ question somewhere I am sure. Happens to tons of people.
Select your language in the options screen. Or reselect it. Otherwise itll crash getting info.

I don't ven own one yet and know this one.

I assumed he was talking about the "Information on location" or "information on destiantion" functions, which is used to find restaurants, gas stations, shopping centers, etc. I use that all the time, especially when I'm in a place I've never been, which seems to happen a lot more since I got my MINI! I just seem to be more inclined to toss caution to the wind and motor off into the wild blue yonder these days!

Joe

The same thing happens with my wife's MC. When you select the Information function, the system goes blank and then finally reboots. I have to take it in for more service next week, so I'll see what the dealer says.

Thank you everyone. Fooo is right, RESELECTING language fixed the problem. The dealer set it up in front of me and selected Great Britain from the choice of Great Britain or France, but apparently it was necessary to do it again. Otherwise the MC is doing great with the only problem of spending much of today giving coworkers rides in it

thank you again, joe

While on the subject...the nav speaks with a British accent, right? Can you choose if it's a male or female voice? (I haven't yet named my MINI...I don't want it to have an identity crisis if I name it the wrong sex. )

SKalex,

No. As far as I can tell, there is no way to change the voice. It is a female.

It has been joked about elsewhere that it would be really cool to be able to download new voices, or program it to say certain things. (e.g., when you get in the car it might say "Hello, master!&quot
