I've looked, and cannot find, any part # for an Optima battery that would fit an MCS. Has anybody out there installed an Optima? Care to share the part #? :smile:

 

No part # listed on their website. It's a group 47 battery, so if you can find one, it should fit. El Diablito Rojo-N20Mini has a gel battery, another possibility for you

Spiral cell batteries like the Optima tend to be smaller than the battery they replace. In my Land Rover, the Optima was about 2/3 the size of the plain lead/acid battery it replaced. so the problem will not be getting a battery that is small enough to fit - it is usually that the battery is a different size, so the mounting bracket does not fit without alteration. Optimas are also not rectangular, since they have those 6 tube shaped cells. All in all, though, I'm looking forward to mounting one eventually. Years of air-cooled VW's having their floor pans eaten away by acid have made me very gun-shy of batteries mounted inside the car.

What kind of amperage is available from the odyssey? Have you had any problems starting the car after letting it sit for a few days? Seems like a good weight saving option but just need to know if it will be ok to use with my subwoofer.

 

look at the 925 for a little more power.
