2015 F56 with 8.8" screen / HUD - Adding Carplay?

I've seen a few photos showing F56s with Carplay on the screens, but I'm guessing my 2015 is a bit too old for that. I was hoping it might be as simple as a software update, but of course can't find any information on that. My car was one of those dealer demo/loaners that they load out with all the cosmetic and techno dohickies, but 3 years later it feels out of date next to a $300 head unit you can get at bestbuy. Any info from others out there?

I think you have to spend a lot of cash on oem to retrofit or take your chances with Chinese aftermarket units.

Maybe someone will chime in with better info.

This should work. Seller hasn’t seen it in a MINI yet but it’s the same hardware except for the round MINI frame over the screen.

Thanks Bratling. That looks like it could be a good solution, but hard to pull the trigger with no 100% confirmed working and not exactly cheap price tag. Guess I'll just have to figure out how to mount my phone. there isn't a flat surface anywhere on the dash, and being soft touch material I've yet to find a good solution other than the overpriced OEM flip out holder.

Was going to try to add it to my wife's CM but since she didn't care to much for it, figured I'd save the money and just order it on my JCW instead.

You can check out Bimmertech, it will tell you if it's compatible or not.

I think BimmerTech has some type of "retrofit" to put Carplay on older Minis.
