To media screen or not to media screen......

...that is the question. It's like, I don't want to pay for the extra media package. But I love the way the screen looks.

hmmmmm.........what did everyone do/what are you going to do?

The screen is a no-brainer to me. The stock radio looks like a smiling muppet lol. The 6.5" doesn't fit the circle well, so too many plastic surrounds for my liking. Of course, it's better than the stock radio though. If you want nav it's better to get the XL screen as it's only $500 more than the 6.5" with nav but you also get more features and the nicer controller.

You will need to decide soon as to get any screen for MY2015 you are forced to add the $1000 rear camera/park assist. It's debateable when MY2015 production begins - my MA said August/September builds, but who knows.

I ordered with the media pack so I'll at least have a color screen. I didn't want any fancy tech options though so the largest screen wasn't necessary for me.

Worth it! It's much easier to read the vehicle status

I wish I had it, for sure. I bought my car off the lot, didn't figure I cared about the screen and nav, but I definitely do it turns out. I love my car just as it is, but if I was ordering, I would positively get the XL screen and nav.

Sunroof, yes. Upgraded stereo, not really. And armrest, no.

Only asking because I didn't care for the screen also, but looking at the options I did want, the upgraded screen became only a 250 dollar addition with one of the packages.

Anything built after 7/1/2014 is a 2015 MY vehicle. The model year changes apply, new pricing applies and the maintenance plans are no longer automatically transferred to the 2nd owner without a fee.

So the current site configurator is useless? How can anyone place an order right now?

Useless? LOL, not at all. You can still use the configurator and your local dealer will adjust the pricing to 2015 if a 2014 June production slot is not available to be modified for you. Usually, there is a lapse between changeover in the month of July (fewer modifiable slots). The configurator should be updated with 2015 information in the next week or two.

The dealer can adjust the price, but given the changes mentioned, you couldn't really finalize your build until the pricing changes are clear i'm thinking.

You can, and you can also predict the 2015 price by just adding in the adjustments.
For example:
Add $500 for 2015 price increase and Add $100 for destination increase. If you want a Blazing Red MINI then Add $250 for paint increase. If you want Navigation XL, Add $1000 for PDC/Rear camera requirement. If you want the Premium Pkg, Add $500 for Alarm requirement, etc etc.

I don't think that the dealers are able to input 2015 orders yet, so it won't be "finalized" until later this month anyway. You just have to wait a couple more weeks for the Configurator to be updated

I ordered a 2014 MC that went into the system last Friday, May 30. The car will have to be built prior to 7/1/2014? Otherwise it becomes a 2015? Hopefully the car is built in time so I don't get wacked with a bunch of added costs.

MotoringFile has backtracked yet again on their reporting. Now they say both warranty and maintenance will be transferable (same as currently).
