Nav System - Plug and play?

Hi all,

I found a Nav system for the 2008 Mini and was wondering if this is all I'd need to upgrade. I currently have a 2008 Mini Clubman with the base radio, and the unit I found has the speedometer with the nav screen and the CD player / selector "box" with the plug connectors in back. If I were to swap this out with my existing equipment, would I have a functioning nav system, or is there more hardware needed? Does the different speedometer work with the same input?

I understand that there's also a control component that comes as part of the center console - is this necessary for the nav to function?

Thanks,
Nick

I don't specifically know the answer for your car. But from all the posts I've read when investigating similar thoughts on my car I've yet to come across one post that said - "sure simple plug and play and everything worked as great as I expected" Usually a lot of effort goes into installing and making things work. And then when you read closely, often things don't work so well, such as bad reception, etc.

Post up a link of the unit in question and maybe someone has experience with that model/brand.
