One of the features listed under "Comfort and Convenience" in the full specifications given for the Mini and Mini S on the http://www.miniusa.com website is entitled "Plug and Play Electronic System". It is supposedly a standard feature on Minis and Mini S's. However, I can't find out what Mini means by "Plug and Play Electronic System". Based on prior posts it asppears the stereo is NOT plug and play as Blitzsafe is necessary - and may not even be "Plug" since no one has been able to find an auxiliary input. In addition, the rear power plug has been eliminated. Dioes anyone know what Mini means by a standard "Plug and Play Electronic System"?

I would assume that they are refering to the modular ability of the stereo system....where you can add a CD changer or minidisc by just pluging it in and playing. No need to reconfigure anything or swap out anything. Just "plug and play".

Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case. It's my understadning that modifications are necessary for any apparati to be added to the stereo system except for BMW OEM

Uhm, ya...that's what I said, sorry I forgot to say "OEM" components. That is the way most any product works...plug and play for it's own OEM components. Why would you expect it to be compatible with aftermarket items??

Guess I relate to computer systems where plug and play means other manufacturers' products are recognized and can be integrated. I wouldn't consider only those parts designed to work with the product to be equal to "plug and play."

I assume what they mean by Plug and Play is that any performance mod you put on the car, the engine management electonics system will learn about and adjust for.

Do you mean no new chip needed to enhance performance? I don't quite understand.
