Replacing HK Rear Speakers
Hi
Just wondering if anyone has replaced the factory HK 5" Rear subwoofer/speakers. The 2 I have are rattling so I ordered the factory replacements. Can the speakers be replaced by removing the rear seat and accessing the speaker through the front of the plastic side panel cover to swap out the speakers? Or does the whole side panel need to be removed?
Thank you for your help!

You have to remove that whole side panel. Sometimes it the panel that rattle or the grille. Not a bad speaker. I put velcro fabric tape around the panel on mine to stop the vibrating.

Its part of the grille. R52 Grilles. I have to replace mine also, they are falling apart.

So judging by the images on your site it appears the "sub-grill" (black part under the perf metal grill) provides the screw bosses for the attachment of the speaker grill assembly to the car. That means the interior panel needs to come off to access the speaker and screws for the grill. Ugh!
It looks like the ring and perf metal are attached to the black sub-grill via melting of some posts on the ring that goes through the sub-grill. Like on the door speakers and door trim. So once the grill assembly comes off I should be able to reattach the ring to the sub-grill with glue or something. I hope so anyway because the replacements are far too expensive.
Thanks!
