Y Cable

Are there any other Y cables with lightning connection on the market that aren't 100+ dollars?

Any other alternatives?

I've got a 2012 R56 and use an iPhone 6.

Thanks!

Android isn't supported on the R56. All you can do is use the aux input, or a thumb drive in the USB.

I don't understand sorry. I have seen BMW Mini Y cables for android but I am preferably looking at a Bluetooth receiver. I have one but although I was told it would work, it does not.

I am looking at hooking up my android tablet and android phone to the car. If this is impossible (I find that cannot be true) then I will sell the car.

WTF? unless the R56 is greatly different than the R55, Tune2air and the correct BMW Y cable work perfect for BT music, streaming or playlist, regardless of Android or iphone based. Both are usually had for about $85.

Which Bluetooth receiver do you have and how are you using it?

I was responding to JohnnyZenith's original question regarding a Y cable for Android. The short answer is that there is none (BMW Y cable is only available with an iPhone connector). Bluetooth wasn't brought up until his second question. Yes, a workaround is possible by using a Bluetooth dongle.

Ahh. Sorry, my bad! Yes, you are completely correct, no direct wired solution except iPod. I read his BT comment and extrapolated.

Hi. I am using or trying to use the:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bluetooth Receiver, TaoTronics Portable Wireless Audio Adapter

All I get is static.

I have seen a BMW Y Cable (third party for android) but it probably doesn't work. In any case it is Bluetooth I want to use.

I have no idea why this doesn't work.

Thanks for your reply,

I'll take a look at Tune2Air. I just wanted to use my phone and tablet and I cannot believe what I have to go through.

Perhaps my USB and AUX aren't set up properly.

My radio makes no warning sounds but i doubt this is part of it.

JohnnyZenith,

I replied to your post in the other thread:

I see no reason why it shouldn't work. It is a simple Bluetooth receiver with an audio out. Do you hear anything when you plug headphones into the Taotronics? If you don't hear anything, it won't work on the car aux input either.
If it works with headphones, you should be able to swap the headphones with a connector into the aux-input jack, and select aux on the stereo.

Yes the Bluetooth receiver works. It appears to be the car.

I wonder if this is related to the fact I get no car sounds either. No chimes. My radio and CD works though.

Make sure that the plug is fully inserted all the way into the aux jack. If it's fitting tightly, this might not be obvious.

One final test to verify that it's the car... if you have a stereo cable with male at both ends, connect it between the aux and your phone's headphone jack (this is the typical usage of the aux in).

Yeah I've tried all that and no I get nothing out of the AUX. I guess I'm going to have to take the whole dash apart just to check this.

This has been a nightmare really. I should make it clear I have Android devices if that makes any difference.

I want my chimes and I want my MP3/Music.

Thanks for the advice so far.
