DICE iPod docking cable = Ice>Link iPod docking cable

Does anyone know...
Is the DICE iPod docking cable interchangeable with the the Ice>Link iPod docking cable? i.e. Can I buy the DICE cable and use it with my Ice>Link? Or are the Ice>Link docking cables (not the cradle) still available? I have a cradle and want to switch to a simple cable.

Thanks

I bought the Dice control unit, but used my ICE>Link Plus cable for the HU. So I think they are interchangeable either way you are going. Talk with Tom at EAS.

We have them here on the site:

DICE iPod Docking Cable
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=232

This will be compatible with the ice>Link also.

At one end you plug your iPod and at the other end, it gets plugged to the Boost radio/cd player. No more, no less. Cheap and effective. I guess that's what I'm looking for.

That won't work as the radio does not know how to handle an Ipod. You must have something between to translate like the DICE or Icelink Plus.

the thing that amaze me the most with such devise it that it seems to me no one can really explain what exactly is needed to get ones ipod properly connected to the radio.

When I read their website it says the following. To my understanding, the cable itself is enough to get it work. When reading your answer, it seems I need yet another what ever.

What else do I need ?

This simple Docking Cable will allow for a simple 1-cable connection to your iPod for your ice>Link Plus or DICE iPod Integration kit. Allows for iPods to retain a protective case and be stored away in the glovebox or armrest for 100% stealth view.

Note: This item is already included in our DICE iPod integration kits.

You're misinterpreting the quotes. The "one wire connection" is in reference to the iPod's dock cable to the iPod. The complete DICE kit is needed to integrate your iPod to your MINI.

This is everything you need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for MINI Cooper/Cooper S
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=314

When completed - only a single docking cable is present for iPod connectivity.

Ok, just so that I do not buy the wrong thing......

I have a 2005 MCS with the HK sound system.

I already have an XM Direct kit installed, this has the pass-through for a CD changer (not present), and works extremely well displaying station, artist/title.

What I am looking to do is to get a kit for an iPod that plugs into the CD changer cables (actually the XM pass-throughs) in the boot of the car, and then mount my old 4th gen iPod in the trunk and use it like a CD changer.

In addition, I want to ensure that I can retain my iPod (5.5gen) up-front which is connected to an the AUX in !

Possible ?

Painful ?

Definitely possible and takes about 5 min to get up and testing. This is the kit you need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for MINI Cooper/Cooper S
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=314

This will retain your AUX connection and add a 2nd one with the DICE. Simply plug the DICE harness into your Blitzsafe CD Changer connectors and you're set.
