Finally pictures of my system

I have been working on my system for 6 months now,
and it still isn't finished. However, I am finally able to
post a few pictures. I will add more in the next couple days.
In case you cant tell from the photos:

Alpine CDA-9815
Rockford Fosgate Pro & Punch Amps
Audio Control DQX Digital Crossover
Rockford Fosgate 10" subs
MD Quart mids & highs in the doors
Boston Acoustic mids & tweets in the rear.
I still plan on adding a DVD player and some monitors
in the near future.
What do you guys think?

A bonus? I wish.

I have been saving for a long time to do this.
I have done it in parts. Bought the deck, amps, and MB Quart speakers
about 6 months ago when I started the system.
About a month later, I replaced the previous 12" sub and enclosure for the dual 10" Fosgate subs to add more bass, and better "knock".
Besides, the silver rings match the interior silver perfectly.

Then, a month or so later, I added the DQX to improve the sound since I spent so much on the rest of the speakers. That is when I added the Boston Acoustic speakers.

Right now, I have ordered the remote for the EQ which will be installed
up front under the toggle switches.
Then the monitors will be added in the next couple months once I save the money, and figure out where to install everything.

Sorry about the pictures. The others were to large. I will reduce them down tonight and post them tomorrow. I have pictures of the deck and the install process of the amps under the seats.

A bonus? No. It has just been a long time since I bought anything for my MINI because I wanted to do it right.

Are those speaker cones normally just exposed like that, or is some cover removed so we can see them? I bet it sounds good, but you have seemed to destroy any possibility of carrying anything in the back of the car. Plus things seem pretty visible from the outside rear - a sort of invitation to steal. Hope you do not plan to use it as a real car. It makes a great stereo though.......

You cant see into the trunk...the little cover that folds down when you close it always hides whats in the trunk.

Exactly! Plus the window are so dark (Limo) you cars see in.
You have a better chance of hearing it than seeing it.

I thought about the storage thing. So my original sub system was flat on the floor housing a single 12" sub. It sounded good...but not what I wanted. No covers. None needed really.
Besides, I really never carry anything in there aside from my golf clubs
and they fit in the front seat.

O, yes it does sound SWEEEEEET!

Minimac,

It looks great. Nevermind the storage for the boot.
Store stuff behind the front seats on the floor if you need to.

Send more pictures when you get some done.

A good alarm and guard dog would be nice.

So the subsystem in the back is coverd by a solid sheet of vinyl when the hatch is closed? Doesn't that muffle and change any sounds that it produces? Sounds like throwing a blanket over your expensive speakers! Have you considered an acoustically transparent material to replace the stock boot cover?

If I fold down the seats, it does get louder.....however the bass is
is still loud...and you can feel it.
I am running the amp at the 1/2 way point, and I use the Sub level
control on the head unit to turn it up and down between 0-15.
It usually sits about 4-6.

So I guess it comes down to the fact that I have yet to run out of
bass.

The low range sounds are non directional so even a little opening will be enough for "good" sound. Did you get any sound deadening material? Dynamat extreme or similar and where did you put it? Might help reduce road noise and resonance/vibration if that is at all apparent for you.

MiniMac,

Nice system! Given the power levels your system is capable of I wouldn't pay much attention to comments about sound transparency. It's not as if you've covered your system with dynomat.

And while your car does make a good stereo, as far as storage goes, if you wanted it for storage you would have bought a truck. Enjoy your system And keep us posted on your progress.

Exactly!
I will sure to keep the photos comming.
I must say that I think the AUDIO forum lacks the amount traffic it deserves.
We need to see more systems.

In the meantime, Still waiting for the Dinan strut tower bar, and Intake if they evey make it...

Rayman, as much as I would love to take credit for building myself....I didn't.

My friend is a custom stereo installer. He builds demo vehicles for Kenwoon, Audiobahn, Pioneer, MB Quart, Lightning Audio, Fosgate, etc. The stuff he builds is amazing! He built everything for me.

The 2 sub boxes are built mainly of MDF. Then there is some fiberglass around them to get the contours. Then they were vrapped in vinyl.

I will be removing them, removing the vinyl, and painting them to match the car.
In addition, I am going to replace the head unit, add a DVD player, and a monitor back there. It should be very cool!

Give me a couple weeks to get things installed, then I will post new pictures.
I have some pictures of the system being installed. I thought they were on my digital camera....but they aren't. They are on a 35mm roll. I still need to get it developed. I will do that this week and post some more pictures. I will also post them to my website.
