Hi Everyone, pulled the trigger on a GP1. It came with the Polk speakers in the box, uninstalled. So I have a few questions - I did a search and could not come up with the answers I was looking for -
1. Has anyone done an install? Any pix of your install?
2. Did you use the crossover? If you used the Xover, what wires did you use for the input?
3. Or did you use the existing tweeter and mid/woofer wiring and not use the Xover?
4. Did you have to modify the door panel to accept the speakers? If so, what did you have to do so the speakers fit?

2) Do you have HK? If yes - that's why they are still in the box. The crossover is in the amp and customised to the car and the speakers.
4) Yes, it's extremely challenging as the mounts are deliberately non geometrical and shallow.

 

The headunit was the standard one (not the HK). The PO upgraded to a very nice JVC deck.

 

HK is the amp and speakers. The speaker grills are lighter silver for HK.

 

I looked at the original HU (it came with the car). Not HK, manufactured by Siemens in Germany! So based on that, I ask the original questions about putting in the Polk audio stuff.
