I tried to update my current software today:

MN-002.026.003
TN-002.026.003

to a newer version. I tried both methods, the UPD01006.bin file from the MINI Connectivity page and UPD05062.bin from the BMW site. I used my VIN on the BMW site.

I used a FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive and copied 1 of the .bin files to the USB device.
When I try to update I get an error, it says that the software on the USB device is not compatible with my MINI. I got the same error with both files.

I tried this with an iMac first and also on a Windows PC with Windows 7, also tired 2 different USB thumb drives.

 

Here's a link to a thread on the F56 "main" forum what's about people who are coding their cars to do different things using BMW's coding platform. I don't understand it but they do transfer files from laptops to the car's OS.

This is something different. I just want to update my MINI Connect infotainment system. You can do this using an USB stick. This update fixes phone compatibility and Spotify problems. There is also a fix for iOS 8 problems like message reader.

 

If you had taken the time to read the software version you would have found it's dated jan 2013 and therefore it won't be for an F56 as they were not made then.
Therfore your car is telling you the truth that it's not compatible

You have to go to you dealer for this I am afraid

According to my VIN my car is build february 2014.

 

I not talking about that, I'm talking about the date of the software on the download page. It's dated before the F56 went into production. It says so right there on the web page

 

I also tried the latest version UPD05062.bin this version is up to date, december 2014. It should update MINI Connected to:

MN-2.255.60
TN-2.255.62

I got this from the BMW ConnectedDrive site, other F56 owners used this site also and were able to update.

This version is also mentioned on the MINI Connectivity Compatibility site when entering a valid VIN.

 

So after you did this update what improvement in functions did you see? Faster, smoother?

 

I couldn't update, gave me an error. See first post.

 

My car came back from my dealer today. They had to update the ECU before they could update to 2.55.62

From now on all updates should work.

 

Just finished installing the UPD05062.bin on my 2015 F56 S - It appears to fix the issue with my iphone not connecting at times and also seems to fix the podcast problem with having to press play twice in order to listen to podcast.

 

Just did the update but as far as I'm concerned it didn't change squat. Android phone here/

 

Maybe that is my problem my will not take the update either. They (MINI) told me its a iPhone problem and nothing is wrong with the car.
