I have what I hope is a simple question: Are Infinity speakers fairly interchangable with the factory HK speakers since Harman makes both? Specifically my HK tweeters are blown and I'm looking for cost effective/ easy ways of replacing them. Infinity makes a couple of 1" tweeters with the required 2 ohm impeadence and I'm hoping someone can tell me if they will pop right in without much modification......

 

Which HK speakers are blown, are you hearing a popping noise or no sound at all ?

There are door tweeter / mid range and lower door speaker , plus singles in the back.

 

It's the small 1" tweeter (driver's side mainly) adjacent to the door handles. The speaker cracks at medium to high volumes.

 

Its a tweeter and midrange speaker in one. Not just a tweeter. You can see it in the picture.

That's it. Anyway, it needs replacing and I'm looking for options. I've priced the OEM HK's at over $80 each. That seems a bit extreme.

Green wonder... I would check the amp before buying a new speaker. Already did a replacement on one of mine and it has the same symptoms as the old one. You think HK speakers are priced high... Try pricing an HK amp... I almost had sticker shock.

 

Given the number of HK amps that have croaked, and people given up, the components should be available cheap, from the right place.
