No one upgrades stock 3.5" speakers?

I've been researching upgrading my audio this week. I've got a standard 6 speaker system in my R56, and I've been shopping for front speakers today after having purchased a bazooka and a set of 6x9's.

From what I'm seeing, no one seems to upgrade the 3.5" speakers, but just upgrades the fronts to 6.5". Is that correct? Why?

I didn't because of the position of them in the door. Right by my knee, I just disconnected them

Even with the speakers gone, aren't the grills still right at your knee and effectively still in the way?

I did. I didn't see why not they are so cheap in that size.

What did you end up putting in yours? I'm looking at a 4 channel Kenwood amp to power all 6 of my speakers, but it's been a LONG time since I was in the car stereo world...

Sorry I should have been more clear. I disconnected them, put 6.5" in the bottom door locations and tweeters in the A pillars. I meant that my knee would have been in the way of the sound if a speaker had been there.

AAAhhhh, ok. That makes sense.

Yea, I don't have the pillars made for tweets and I don't think I'll bother with the extra hassle at the moment. Maybe.

I got the Boston Accoustics lower model just coaxials all the way around.
(meaning all 6 speakers)
I wish I had shelled out a little more and gotten the version a bit better like
the ones I put in my wife's car way back.

The biggest difference was the amp. Keep in mind I worked on this over time
a couple of years. I started with an Alpine F545 something and it rocked even
at very low volume you could hear everything. I spilled milk inside that one and
replaced it with a Sound Ordinance from crutchfield and it was less watts, but also
it just does not have the same fullness of sound at lower volume. Some of that is
related to not buying better speakers though.

That's all speakers. 60w is 60w is 60w. As long as your wiring and pre out cables are of the same quality, then it's directly related to the quality of speaker you put in and not the amp. 2*30=60 no matter how you look at it....

My question though... Is hoebyou spilled milk on your amplifier....

Everything remained the same but the alpine sounded so much better. Even though the specs were similar. In real life that alpine was just simply put overly awesome. I hope to get another one like it in the future.

Gallon of milk turned over in the trunk or boot as we called it.
It had a defective stopper.
