UPDATED with Pics... iPod roll call

Trying to find out how many iPod owners there are on NAM. I think I've come up with a really cool MINI-specific mounting option...a one-off at the moment, but thought I'd look into getting a bunch made if there is any interest. If you don't mind, reply here if you own an iPod, and I'll post pics if there's a decent response. Thanks. JR

I have one!!!! And I'm sure there's lots of folks on NAM that have one, too! I got a 15 gig....were you going to make the mount for an ipod or an ipod mini?

I designed it for a regular iPod (current generation 20g) since that's what I have, but the design would translate well for the iPod Mini. It's made of aluminum (not adjustable like a cell phone holder) so I guess I'd have to do a couple of different models. It's really sweet, though. Sometimes, I just go out and stare at it. Also made it with the ICElink in mind, too bad those are on back order and I can't get my hands on one.

hey keikilee,

you got one already? i was planning on getting one hooked up once i got around to my stereo stuff. still not sure when that's gonna be, but i figure the ipod is gonna be way more efficient than carrying a bunch of cd's around in my sunvisor and stuff.

next time we got a mini event, you gotta show me your stuff.

40 gig model (which is thicker than the lower capacity ones) connected via the Belkin adaptor. It sits in the cupholder.

I have a MINI. I picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago. I don't have my MCS yet so I haven't been able to mount it. BUT I'm still interested in something new.

I have a new (20G) iPOD which I recently purchased for the MINI-S that I don't have yet! It got loaded on the boat today. (Damn the topedoes, fill speed ahead!!)

I have put my name in on the wait list for the ICE-LINK and they have a mount that seems to work ok but I would be interested in a mounting alternative.

I have two of the original ipod 5 GB. Each one is being used by my kids and they replaced earlier Rios that we had for mp3 music. The ipod works great with itunes on our imacs. One has a bad battery which needs to be replaced but the other is OK.

My aftermarket headunit has an aux out jack so I had a Monster cable (5 foot long) with mini jack hooked up which I coil up and place on my euro parcel shelf. Then I plug the ipod to the mini jack and turn the headunit to aux and the music plays off the ipod through my stereo system. Works fine.

ipod mini is so popular the wait from Applestore.com is about 3 weeks. I went to the Apple store at Ala Moana and they said they get a few in on tuesdays and they don't know which colors but they all sell out in a moment so most of the time they are out of stock.

We are enjoying a G4 imac with 20" screen. I can put up two screens full of NAM stuff. Almost as fun and motoring.

I've got a 40 gig Ipod, full and waiting for the next larger generation one to come out.

Currently playing around with the Belkin mounting system that uses the cupholder. It's a great system, just doesn't work well in the MINI. Either too big for the cupholder or too small.

Using Belkin power cord w/amp'd audio output (GREAT device) and Monster Cables running it to the aux adapter.

I have a first generation 5G ipod which normally lives in the cupholder when in use. Or the glove compartment when not.

Second gen 10 GB here...love it. I installed the aux jack last summer, and was living with the iPod for my 2-hour commute. Just installed a Sirius PNP, though, and that's taken over the aux jack for now. The iPod is sitting here with me at work. It's my audio tag team...

I have a 30B iPod, w/ the Panavise 703 mobile phone holder:

It hooks into my AUX input which is in the left pillar, and I use the Belkin car adapter....sounds awesome! I did hear that Alpine announced an iPod option that is due to ship this summer...not sure if it will work w/ the MINI stock head unit or not.

I'll post a couple of pics of the unit in my car when I read up on how to post (I guess I have to upload them to a website...probably have some space through Comcast). In the meantime, if anyone wants to see it, I can email you a JPEG. The mounting location is the coolest thing about it, I think. Thanks. JR

Prospect owner here. I just installed the Aux input jack to my HK stereo a few weeks ago and I am looking forward to purchase fairly soon a new Apple iPod 15GB device.

Originally I had set my eyes on the newly released 8GB Mini iPod but for $250 is not really worth the money. It is smaller which is more suitable for car use, but by comparison when you pay $50 more for the 15GB "classic" model, you get almost double the HD capacity, a sturdier nicer built case and the all important lighted control buttons (Which the Mini iPod lacks) when driving at night.

Well, the MINI's factory stereo (CD Boost and Harmon Kardon) is made by Alpine. I will get in touch with Alpine later on to find out whether the new ai-net device is compatible with OEM supplied factory Alpine MINI car stereos.

They make it sound like the ai-net will only work on "select" non-OEM Alpine car stereos, but I wonder if this box will hookup with our MINI Alpine stereo?

2nd gen here... I'm looking for something that lets me keep using the iSkin. I've got the ice-link, but the clip that came with it just doesn't fit with the case :/

hmmm, when i called alpine concerning the device for the ipods they didn't have much info on it. He said that it should work on any deck with the ai-net, but for sure any 2004 alpine cd players should be compadable. Not much help. That was a couple months ago so they might have some more info now. I was unaware that the mini cd player was actually an alpine.
